Between cars, copter wrecks, and buildings, I think the world already has a lot of metal.
I rolled up a military recruit survivor for the marksman points, dumped whatever I didn’t spend on stats into archery and hit the road. Things were going well, I had two evac shelters right next to each other, both with a fair amount of goodies in the basement. I loaded up and set up base in the one without the starter NPC.
Things are going well at this point. I’ve had several nice raids on town. Never went during the day, but my night raids had landed me with plenty of food, water and some weapons on day two.
But there was a problem. A big one. Someone out there had their very own evac shelter and was busy lording it over my head. How dare he! That guy even had the nerve to try and get me to board up HIS windows! What a prick! So I went over there in the middle of the night with my trusty axe, looking to do him in nice and quick like. Get one swing on him, my axe gets stuck in his arm. As I’m trying to yank it free, he hits me in the face with a stick of dynamite. I tug the axe free and bolt out the door. I barely make it to the edge of the explosion, my ears ringing from the blast.
I go inside, expecting to find a dead survivor with some damaged explosives. What do I find? A pissed off survivor with a couple grenades. I don’t know if he went hog wild pulling pins, but he hit me with one, then proceeded to explode everywhere a lot, taking me with him.
God damn it. This is why we can’t have nice things.
My specop run into a gunknife while looting a gunstore AND some .500 ammo, it’s a good thing you can stash a knife to BOTH of your boots!
Do wonder if my hand is going to seperate it violently from my arm when I fire that thing.
Also a bayonet.

I now have handmade everything I need for metalsmithing. Now, um…not really much to make with an illiterate character.
EDIT: Oh cool, you can quite easily charge the shore and jab fish that enter the shallows with a spear.
Jackson Warren has become today a Prime Male. It took him 70 days of training,gathering ingredients and crafting, killing 2217 monsters in the meantime (of which 520 were small blobs from a nearby slime pit, for crafting mutagen). He has prime strength and intelligence, but the other 2 will have to wait a bit, since he’s afraid of becoming addicted to mutagen.
He’s a real bad ass with a katana and Niten, occasionally shooting stuff with laser rifle or pistol and he has the fusion blaster rifle for shenanigans too.
Now he thinks to raid a couple of more labs to stockpile on bleach and ammonia and to try and find a cvd machine and some more bionics (he really wants the enhanced hearing and diamond cornea ones). He is planning to try some troglobite mutagen to get rid of that fast metabolism, but he doesn’t really know what to do after he achieves these goals.
Raid some mines and then some temples? Try and defeat some fungal blooms and triffid groves?
Invade a triffid grove and rip out its heart.

Since i’m so OP i run in some very light armor, this almost ended badly.
I went down into a slime pit that broke into a lab (i cleared the lab beforehand) and the next room i entered had a turret some 3 tiles away from me (which i apparently ignored or didn’t notice when i cleared the lab, but thought i have hacked already when i’ve seen the lit room now). So the fucker got me to \ Torso and dropped some other parts as well, but not as much. I had to shoot it with my laser pistol (two shots were enough).
Now i think that the decision of shooting it was far from perfect, since if i would’ve failed to kill it and it would’ve had another turn to shoot at me, i would’ve been dead. Now i need to find that power armor faster, before i make some more stupid things.
