On a totally unrelated note: how do you clear a slime pit?
Fire. The slime terrain is very flammable. Back in stable it was a little tricky; dig an area safe from the fire, burn the slime, sleep.
Now, fire seems to go out faster, and you don’t have to stand on the same floor in order for the fire to go out.
In any case, the real time consuming thing is taking care of the slime terrain at the edge of the underground caverns, since they usually won’t get touched by the fire from the main areas.
And what do you get for cleaning a slime pit, besides a good gloating?
No more blobs to bother me if I ever pass that route?
I separate items to fulfill some sort of bizarre desire for organizing. Not everything I do makes sense.
Hmm. Unless you have z-levels enabled, you shoudn’t need to clear out anything more than the surface.
Oh wait, if dynamic spawning is on it might yield more slimes, but it shouldn’t on static.
Z levels are enabled. Static spawns as well.
In that case, purge the little buggers.
Finished already. Gods, that was beyond tedious. Podcasts once again helped me stay sane.
Yeees. This pleases the Mycus.
Anyways, the survivor carbine is proving mighty useful. High damage, very good accuracy. Can kill a hulk in 5 shots. Accurate enough to destroy milspecs in 30 tiles away.
Wait, so can you confirm that no more Blobs spawn from a Slime Pit once you clear it out? Because I was under the assumption that much like hordes those things would just keep on spawning from thin air. It’s part of the reason I avoid those areas surronding them like the plague, if the blobs don’t get you the lag certainly will.
More reason I’m finding hordes to be more hassle than it’s worth, at least on static mode. I already get swarms of pests to deal with when they all spawn at once. Seems horde mode would be best on dynamic.
In any case, the explosion security bots do are making it near impossible to collect anything at the bottom of labs. Third time I reach the bottom floor of the lab where the glass shielding the loot in the center is gone, which means security bots have walked into the dissector, and in turn destroy the bottom level lab items into nothing.
Seriously, the survivor’s .223 carbine is amazingly powerful. In general, I prefer single shot rifles since I don’t like wasting bullet, and each shot does high damage. At around 4-5 tiles away, it’s pretty much instant death to most zombies. Even brutes. Can even manage to kill a hulk in 4-5 shots.
Case in point, encountered a big horde. Had enough ammo so I set out to shoot them. Killed about 100-plus, and none of them got near enough to damage me, not counting corrosives spitting out acid which didn’t do damage. For most part, I waited for the zombies to reach around 10 tiles away, and start shooting, and back away when they got too near. It was enough to get my rifles skill up to 11.
Ah. Forgot about those nasty things.
Playing in the cheater’s world again. The APC I spawned turned out to possess cameras. Nice, but the display is not on the driver’s seat. Will have to fix that.
RM51 is not bad. I tend to think that M4 was better but my skills are not high enough yet. And the M4 was modded heavily.
Trying out a car using a vortex engine and generator. With the engine and generator, a car that’s mostly cargo carriers, no walls, just steel frame with all parts having composite plating, and 10 armored wheels, safe speed is around 63. Not too bad, really. Gonna check if it doesn’t drain vortex energy. If it is, could be a nice permanent source in a home rig.
Far as I can tell, it should presumably drain the vortex core very slowly.
Dang. So eventually I’ll have to craft more vortex engines to get cores to refill it?
Well… this is depressing. Moved to a new experimental, and something went wrong and the entire map shows only fields.
I don’t suppose there’s a solution for that?
To be exact, moved to the latest experimental, then the game wouldn’t load for some reason so I moved it back to a previous experimental and the map problem showed up then.
