What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

The only thing jelly can’t cure seems to be withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and tetanus.

Anybody have any idea what a gracken might taste like? I just made a cheeseburger with its meat.

It will taste like a cheseburger

Made a stationary home out of a luxury RV, just sitting in the street. also no more zombies in town they are butchered.
Food sources is just bears, water come from the swimming pool next door. eventually Everything gets covered in spores, no more bears. fixed the RV so it can move. drove until i found the next town.

My latest character has had a rough spring - started off in a small town with few supplies to think of, despite spawning only a short walk from a mansion, with the only real surplus I could find being mechanical supplies (no jacks, though). I took it as a sign that my best bet was to soup up a car and head for greener pastures.

Long story short, I’ve covered a lot of ground in the last few ingame days.

Highlights of the journey include finding a survivor suit and tactical helmet from a random survivor zombie in some basement, encountering a zombie hulk hanging out in front of the refugee center (you’d think they would wanna take care of that…), getting my car stuck on a bridge between two semi-trucks and having to grind one down to get out, falling asleep on the road one night and waking up with a zombear in the back seat, careening my car through the front gates of a FEMA camp, and running over the body of one of my earlier, less fortunate survivors, and finally finding myself at the gates of a large city after 24 ingame days.

Maybe I’ll finally be able to find a hotplate.

Fried demon from hell with cheese?

Probably a little smoky, if it’s indeed from hell. I always imagined strange creatures from a paradoxical world would taste like paradoxically inorganic things. Asphalt. Computer board plastic. Acetone. Granite.

Meanwhile, I have still not escaped the lab. I have to go deeper to find more food it seems, and problematically, it is an ice lab. I cannot get that far down with burying in too many blankets to handle combat. It is interesting, and damn near impossible.

Was riding a raft, reading up on first aid with good old Shia Labeouf following me as I rowed. I had 27 MRE’s stockpiled and a lot of water. I saved, came back later to have it have deleted the raft, sinking me and my supplies. I drowned.

Started as a missed preppy student. One of the windows could not be closed and there was a fat zombie wandering near it. I ran out, right into a car. Fortunately it was only dented, with some petrol and batteries. I drove out of the town, meeting a jolly gang of zombie dancers on my way, ran some idiot over whilst going through the fringes. Good news: the idiot had a Desert Eagle with nearly one hundred of FMJ ammo.

I made it to the refugee centre (running out of fuel right as I was going to turn the engine off), found a Springfield M1903 there and made a reconnaisance attempt on the town nearby. Hordes of undead in it I found. I ran out of ammo and buggered out.

P. S. To whoever made the chemical thrower and sprayable fungicide for this game — thank you.

Started as an infected scoundrel, trying out muay thai this time. First zombie I killed was a brute, so I guess this martial art style and I will get along.

Town was too small. No stores and stuff, but there was a nearby megastore, so I reckon that I’ll go there, though there was a parking lot with a slightly dented shopping cart. One nice thing about the lighting system is most of the inside of the store is dark, so entering it won’t cause every zombie inside to see me and rush out to greet me. And, while inside, the horde that’s currently gathering outside won’t see me either.

I go in, kill a bunch of zombies. Found an acetylene torch, a gasoline and electric lantern, and a bunch of food and clothing. I wait until night to get out, which was a good move for me since the outside of the megastore has been filled up with zombies. Found a nearby evac shelter, which had a gas mask, and now I’ll go to sleep and set out to explore the world when I wake up.

Hordes. Hordes everywhere. Every time I find an evac shelter and sleep in the basement, I wake up and exit the building to find the surroundings filled with zombies. Early spring so I don’t have much trouble on them yet, but once they start evolving it’ll be a real problem.

So far living the nomadic life. Thanks to under the hood, a public works with 3 torches, and a pickup truck on the road, I’m travelling with a good deal of items that’ll help me survive. Just a crossbow for my long-range weapons, and some steel bolts from the megastore. Tazer found from a zombie cop, so unruly NPCs won’t pose a problem.

Still, something amazing happened. Killed an NPC, didn’t notice he threw dynamite at me. Was butchering him when it went off, and the blast… damaged my head a little. Just a little. From full five bars to somewhere around three, and this is with frail and glass jaw. So… some sort of bug with the explosions?

Explosions have been nerfed to uselessness, it seems.

Whoa. Can NPCs follow you now down stairs?

Ooh. I’m gonna have to update it seems.

Oddly, though. I can talk to an NPC upstairs while I’m downstairs.

Possibly also an expansion of the z-level mainlininininining. But neat, now we can rescue NPCs in the lab start?

I’ve been able to bring npcs down into the shelter basement in experimental. So I assume yes?

Glorious.

Also now I can has my No Fungal Monsters mod, yay.

EDIT: Figured I’d try the horde mode with static monsters, and the default 6 point start. Straight-8 survivalist, started near a river and a second evac shelter. Hmm…

EDIT 2: Mi-go down south of the eastern evac center, I see supplies too. Was tough just killing a feral dog with my survival knife, so I might want to arm up before approaching that area.

EDIT 3: OI. I thought I buffed the sling, why is its range still crap?

EDIT 4: Short range or not, it does jack all to mi-gos. The combined power of fire and facestabs scared the creature off. It then dived into the river. Here’s hoping being able to fly through space doesn’t mean they can breathe underwater.

EDIT 5: Mi-go can swim. Poke it a few more times before it fled again. Now for round 3. When will it ever learn?

EDIT 6: Acquire underbrush. Wait for it to advance. Light underbrush underneath it. Acquire facestabs.

EDIT 7: Ooh neat, a “no NPC pickup” zone is a thing now.

EDIT 8: An armored car right near the starting shelter. Sadly the wheels are busted.

Can you provide your character screen? Did you engage the brute head-on or lead it to some more convenient place, like wreckage or a broken window first?

Scheisse. Why are jacks so stupidly rare sometimes?

EDIT: Spelling derps.
