What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

How the RNG gods mock me! Found an antique store, cleared immediate area and made a quick dash inside. Searching through the glass and seen GOLD! Or more specifically SWORDS! Smashed it and see cutlass and katana! Went to get the cutlass, after all this time, and wouldn’t you know, cheap replica!!!1! The katana was real enough, but I have never in all my months of play CCDA been so disappointed to find a real katana.

wanders off kicking the dirt with hands in pockets

Now if only we had a pirate themed item group to put cutlasses in… o3o

Did a game as someone with Beretta 92 and a baton. Spawned in the middle of nowhere, in quite light clothes, little to no food, no loot generally. Hotwired a police car, drove around a bit. Found a lab. Again, it was too cold underground so I grabbed all the nearby supplies and pissed off. A bit more driving, found a motel where I died to a bunch of zombified dogs. Too cold, too much pain, no ammo, no supplies. Lacklustre situation.

Now playing as a military recruit. After a bit of practice with the M4 rifle the character does place shots quite precisely. Also there is a refugee centre just several map tiles away from the starting shelter, as well as the town. Going to make an incursion to the town centre, there is that precious military surplus store. I could use a backpack.

P. S. The tankbot main gun is smashing.

When in doubt, use that delicious cheat. owo

My new starting weapon preference is now a woodaxe/fire axe. Sure it get’s stuck and then.

I also realized no one has coded hacking off limbs and got disappointed. 50 damage to an arm to one and it still attached.

Character’s recuperating after an unwise choice to raid a jewelry store at night. Day raids fare so much better now. In that raid at the very least I know where the necromancers are, so I won’t worry about becoming a human pinball from two zombie hulks.

Still, raid was more or less successful. Near death, but managed to finish off the crowd once I found the necromancer hiding in the dark. Got loads of diamonds, which probably don’t have any use, but will be a nice decor for my base vault area.

Well, desktop save has seen me venture north to check out that lab. Right next to it was a gas station with a SWAT truck, so I’ve got ammo again, and a few new guns. owo

Oh. Dayum, that was hell. After recovering, I went to the edge of town and discovered a roller with all it’s beautiful roller drums intact. Zombies all over the place, it was a cloudy night, and I played the game of nearly killing myself finding the zombie necromancers.

there’s diamond edged weapons. Which I think takes a machine at the bottom of the lab to make.

You need charcoal and hydrogen to make those. I don’t think diamonds have any legitimate use right now short of just trading them.

Running a recent experimental build with my current favourite playstyle of addictive personality/lightweight/bad temper hobo. After a few false starts I spawned near a refugee centre. Spent the day boiling up toilet water after foraging for some more jugs and 2 31 jars. Got detoxed and currently armouring up with salvaged leather and rags from the beds I’m disassembling to level my building skills. Preparing to start raiding the nearby town to the east. As well as begin sourcing a backup camp in case the local fungaloids overwhelm the refugee centre due to my lack of gas mask in the starting shelter. It’s a shame because I love the refugee centre for the free overhead lighting. Not yet found the source of the fungus nearby on map. I assume it’s a spire because of the wide dispersal of fungal beds growing though.

On the upside if I can get the tools and skills I have 3 working buses and 4 cars parked outside that can be cannibalised to make some sort of bus’O’doom.

Yeah, I just want diamonds and gold bars because my character is determined to be the most richest survivor in the cataclysm.

What, no diamond armor? o3o

And you didn’t carry a flashlight?

Just discovered that the rivtech short shotgun uses handguns skill. Since I arrange weapons by skills, this is a moment of mute horror for my organizing.

Huehuehue.

Started yet another new character.

As I was getting my obligatory initial setup done (which consists of getting my fabrication and survival to 1 by grinding recipes, followed by making a knife spear and wooden needle and tailoring as much unencumbering clothing as possible to ready myself for my first loot run), my shelter was attacked on both sides by a pair of mi-gos, a trio of wolves, and a few blobs. Thankfully the NPC in the shelter was armed with a shotgun and proceeded to shoot the hell out of the mi-gos and wolves while I stabbed the blobs to death. During the battle, my fellow survivor went outside the shelter to take out the last wolf, and stayed out there. This is good because now once I board up the windows I can set up the shelter and leave items out in the open and she won’t try to steal them!

My next step was to process the materials I gained from the wolves and from the large pile of dead bodies that the mi-gos were hanging out near. Unfortunately they weren’t drug dealers, gangsters, scientists, or military. They just had regular clothes on them.

At this point I was dehydrated and it was night, so I made a quest into town to grab something to drink, and the first house I entered fortunately the basement of the first house I entered was the bar setup, but had non-alcoholic beverages too.

I feel good about this world. My top priorities now are getting to Construction 1 and boarding up the rest of the shelter, organizing my gear neatly, and then find a working vehicle because the evac shelter is a little far away from the town. There’s also a school and a 2-story motel nearby that are probably full of useful things. Exciting stuff.

Also started anew on the laptop, as a rogue this this. Near a podunk little town that’s basically just a few houses and a cathedral. And what luck, the starter NPC wants a relic!

EDIT: Ooh neat, the relic quest is now a questline. owo

My hobo turned spearman cleared a few houses out and a park 3/4 filled with child zombies . Running a little low on matches and lighters for instant fireification in a fight. But my melee skill and dodging is climbing nicely. Cleared out a subway stop that I’m tempted to turn into a fortress once I have the resources. We shall see! next on the agenda is to keep killing my way through the streets and try to find some more books and tools. slightly lacking in both after scraping by in the refugee centre on low item spawn rate and 2.0 monster spawn.

Found another working APC with a bit of petrol in its tanks. The view from the driver’s seat is limited but given the APC’s size and weight… not my problem really :E
