You’re not alone, I thought I was the only one who did that
Been away with work and life etc. Downloaded latest experimental version as of 5/10/15 because I knew I was gonna have some free time finally. Must say I love the new content, this game is the best.
Had to post an epic start I had tonight. Best first day in Cata I have had yet.
Really bad challenge, krav maga knowing naked ass shower victim. Run around like usual trying to grab anything useful as the flames and smoke close in. No NPC around which is weird for static spawn but whatevs. Run into a garage with a fully functional electric car.
Open the garage door and roll out only to be greeted with a turret about 40 feet away. Damn. But apparently it used up all it’s ammo on my no where to be found NPC! Remington 870, ammo and clothes in one nice neat bloodied pile. Put clothes on, grab the shotgun and hop in the car seat. Cool, zombies and fungal fighters are duking it out in the street. Put the pedal down and head out of town to get away from the fungal bloom.
Ride around looking for another town where I might loot some antibiotics with no luck. Find a lab and a military bunker but no town. Car battery dies. Spot a tower far off which is weird because as far as I can tell there isn’t anything around. Head that way and I start getting messages about my chest being infected right before I get completely mobbed by normal zombies. Well fuck it, I’m going out in a blaze of glory with the old Remington. I pew pew’d all the zombies and started looking for some whisky so I could get shit faced before my wounds and infection got the better of me. And what do I find other than a bottle of antibiotics on a random zombie.
Crafted a makeshift knife, cutting up rags to make a blanket and hopefully I can find some food in the morning and wait out the flu that is coming on.
Sorry to ramble but it was so exciting and to top it off my character actually lived! Waiting for the RNG godz to frown on me.
Really Bad Day is best. I (too) survived only because I found a car quickly. Even more lucky, I was quite close to the edge of town. My spawn rate is 10x, so ploughing through the streets isn’t exactly an option with an unmodified vehicle. Still, killed a few zombies with the car and obtained valuable initial gear. Next task: started looting the houses at the town outskirts, to find medical supplies and food. Retreated into the desert/plains, treated the infection and waited out the flu. And then… then it was time to load the shotgun and start cleaning up the city.
chuh-chuck
You moaning to me?
BLAM!
chuh-chuck
Then who the hell else are you moaning?
BLAM!

Well I’m the only one here.
I need a video camera, a shotgun, a zombie uprising and Bruce Campbell.
This is a movie called ‘Really Bad Day’ and it’s going to be a really bad movie.
And people will want to see it.
latest randomly named Hobo incarnation. Spawned near an apartment, outskirts of a great suburb area and a refugee center nestled between it all. High tailed it to the center and cleared it out using one of 3 working schoolbuses I found there. 2 survivors tried to hold me up at gunpoint within short intervals of each other. ( 0.15 spawn on them so really rare for me ) . They made the mistake to do it whilst i was driving the bus still. Ran them both over for guilt free extra gear and supplies. Also Fungaloids nearby too which makes going cold turkey to cure my guys alcoholism much easier. Just kill them. Drink fluid sacs till over it. Hopefully get that done if no wasps, bears or psychopathic rampaging moose find me. Or that grenadier that was wandering near the starting shelter following a fly and throwing grenade hacks at it.
I’m trying to figure out which of the three Mycus areas I hate more.
Towers rank the lowest, since they don’t spread out as much. On the other hand, it’s hard to decide with the remaining two. Flowers can spread out quickly, but a quick kill on the giant blossom followed by cooking the fungal area mostly takes care of things. Blooms on the other hand spreads out fungaloids and spore clouds everywhere, and while they’re less dangerous and less quick than the spread of a fungal haze on a forest, they’re spread out on a wide area and killing them individually can be a lot of trouble.
That seems like a fun character. Cannibal, gourmet, optimist, stylish, any other traits I’m missing? I’m picturing something like an even more psychotic and better dressed version of Alex from A Clockwork Orange, strolling around and just loving the apocalypse. If anybody watches Aavak’s LP, like Isdar but to even more extremes.
There’s also spiritual which seems to boost up cannibalizing, I think.
While my current longest running survivor is renovating what will become her own little cabin in the woods, I really want to create another world and try something new involving both Hordes and NPCs. This sounds just about perfect, but I was looking at the wiki and was curious, one of Medical’s post-threshold mutations is Cenobite which gives a morale boost from pain. Does that stack with the boost from Masochist?
Because playing a masochistic, cannibal, gourmet, who’s both optimistic and stylish, feels like the perfect way to go from being a Lost Submissive to the medically induced Queen Bitch of the Apocalypse.

Do tell how that plan works out. Sounds fantastic fun!
Also. Got off the booze after running down enough fungaloids to keep me nourished for a week in fluid bladders. Spent the time sewing and processing thread and reinforcing clothing in the refugee center. The hippie van and 1 schoolbus is fucked. But my survivor now has his knife spear and some better armour made + some molotvs from the the starting spirits. Time to clear some houses out of their former occupants and start looting.
This hobo shall inherit the earth or die trying.
Never tried medical before, but my assumption is that cenobite was a step up from masochist. Looking at the debug, it seems that masochist is a prereq towards it.
For now, seems like I’ll be doing my current playthrough for the long haul. For as long as possible. Like several in-game years, if possible. Multiple bases, lots of vehicles, the works. At the moment trying to run through big groups is still a challenge. With my very weak armor set-up, my closest brush with death was a group of no less than 8 triffids. There were fungal fighters, and I almost realized too late that being totally paralyzed can ruin a survivor’s day.
And while the character ain’t stylish, I’m currently sticking to a walking cane as my melee.
Update-Went north to this small town, it consisted of 2 houses, a restaurant and gun store that i didnt notice until i was about to leave. Houses didnt have a whole lot, restaurant didnt have shit luckily with those braziers i dont have to drag the wood stoves like i said earlier. The gun store was one of the bigger ones that had the reinforced metal bar windows and the locked steel door. A grabber zombie was inside trying to get out, lucky for me it triggered the alarms and 3 eyebots and a police bot spawned. For some strange reason the police bot isnt targeting me and seems friendly. Im not sure how to get into the gun store but that will be fore later.
Made a sort of wheelbarrow with a FOODCO kitchen buddy with an upgraded reinforced solar panel. I wanna start stocking up on mutagens to be placed in a storage area, and I more or less didn’t want to make mutagen out of rotten tainted meat, so I made the FOODCO wheelbarrow so I can dehydrate tainted meat on the spot, since tainted meat seems to rot at a pretty fast pace.
So far, it’s working quite well. The solar panel is generating enough energy, and the storage of the kitchen buddy isn’t as big as a trunk or wheelbarrow, it’s more than enough to store in the dehydrated meat until I return to base.
Since it worked well enough, made a third kitchen buddy to be placed in my car, which is already a painful to turn 1x10 thing.
One by ten? Two by five would be much more manageable.
True. I may modify it sooner or later.
Playing in a LMOE shelter start, decided not to be a baby, so Mundane Zombies isn’t on. Shelter had a smattering of supplies and ammo, no guns. Starter NPC had an AR-15 and an M1911 though, which he was swiftly liberated of.
Poking around in the swamps sometime when when my initial stock of food started running low, I saw a spinosaurus. Brought my shiny new AR, since it had ammo in the shelter for it. At first it thought I was the prey here, but a couple shots sent it running. Cue chasing it through half the swamp, alternating between sprinting after it and blasting it which precise shots.
15 shots later, finally killed it next to a crash site of some sort.
So I tried that, and due to tinkering somehow ended up with 2x8. I think something went wrong with the math.
Mooseses. Mooseses everywhere.
Have a road trip planned to take out these bandits. Have someblack widow corpses inmy trunks, funnel, food, non-perishables, etc. Hippie van doe. I’ll continue it when i can tomorrow (technically today.)
I want to find a beehive, and pillage everything, from the royal jelly to the wax in the walls.
Started a truely random scenario… I was planning on accepting anything that didn’t assume prior gameplay (so things like the Sheltered Scenario, or the Ambush scenario, were out). Static NPCs are on, and Random NPCs are on, but at 0.01 frequency (I estimate one random NPC a 30-day season). Fast Zombies, no Joke Monsters, and Dinomod all active.
Rolled a Female Bionic Cop in the Assault on Precinct Z scenario. Rescued a civilian, Pascal Filipovicz, a person with a nail board and 9 barter skill. My duty as a cop comes at a steep price.
Got a little bit of distance, and out of the first wave of zombies, by running. But eventually we had to stand and fight, my L39B and his nailboard. I think Pascal hit one zombie once, and I killed everything else (20 zombies so far)
Moved to a house on the edge of the city. Managed to piss Pascal off by telling him to stay put in a completely sealed room… the coward wanted to stick to me to survive. But at least the basement is an arms stockpile basement.
My biggest problem, aside from resisting the urge to murder Pascal in his sleep, is going to be dealing with my 6 base intelligence. I think I am going to have to ask other NPCs to teach me to do advanced things. But I have the capability to defend myself for now, and enough food and water to last me a week or so (once I get my cooking skill up so I can start making flour-based food products)
