What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

So I decided to throw every lab safety rule known to man out the window and inject myself with the spider, insect, bovine, bird, and rat serums I picked up after finally clearing my first lab.

What I Started With; Animal Discord, Fast Learner, Fast Reader, Heavy Sleeper, Lactose Intolerance, Poor Hearing

And What I Got; Beak, Dexterous, Disease Resistant, Feathers, Night Vision, Poison Resistant, Very Strong, Growling Voice, Substance Tolerance

Destroyed my one good survivor mask, but otherwise everything went better than expected.

I think the growling voice is just your survivor’s way of compensating for how huggably soft he’s become…

The most adorable little abomination ever. o3o

I’m pretty sure I don’t have this amount of a desire to keep things organize in real life. I keep books on my bed in case I wanna read, that sort of thing. Not a slob, but not everything is in order.

But here I am, in this game, having now decided to keep weapon types in separate containers. Handguns on one counter, rifles on another, etc… The bullets are a little more tricky, so I just went with grenades and rockets on one pile and the rest on another. Then, bows, crossbows, and spearguns are piled together on another counter, with their respective ammunition on a container under them.

Eventually I’ll go crazy and decide to separate melee weapons by type.

edit: now decided to organize the ammo piles. shotgun shells, exotic ammo (hydrogen, fusion pack), grenade launcher rounds and rockets, and the rest. Plus another pile for the bolts/arrows/speargun rounds/rails.

HELP!

You need to train your resolve, I was like You once, endlessly organizing stuff, now I just dump random things on random tiles arround my bed.
I call that progress.

I finally cleared out a mine and survived. I grew some antennae early on so I just kited the monster while shooting it with my 10/22 in the dark.

I got some dex-reducing Gloves of Hideous Horror for my troubles. I think they’re weather modifiers but I haven’t been able to test them yet.

But… but everything looks so proper! So deliciously proper, like the alignment of planets!

The only thing deliciously proper is an elf-a mutant. o3o

Of course they are. After all, the elf-a is superior over all the other lesser mutations. If there were top scientists still alive in the cataclysm, they’ll nod their heads in approval over the elf-a’s superior-ness to everything. 'cause of glamour and whatnot, and not wanting to be eaten by a hungry elf-a.

Not to mention their superior deliciousness to dragons. o3o

elf is just a bastardized version of alpha. Hell i’d rather be a chimera than an elf!

Made a new character, 14 str 14 dex 11 int 10 per quick, fast learner, ninjutsu, weak scent, light step, night vision. Bad day + tweaker.
Started in mil surplus store. All I managed to grab before the roof collapsing on me was tactical gloves, 1 mre and 1 sports drink. Walked out the door and see a horde of zombies and a hulk. Run to nearby truck and miraculously it works, run over some zombies and drive to the outskirts of the town. There in a house I found nicely stocked kitchen and first aid kit. Now only to sleep off that addiction…

Meanwhile I’m testing a scenario/profession mod that’s basically Cataclysm: Dorf Days Ahead.

Much alcoholism shall ensue.

Bah, that’s anti-elf propaganda, that is.

But seriously, I just enjoy the elf branch mostly due to fey nightsight and being a psycho who almost always manages to persuade an NPC to join… shortly before backstabbing them with a tazer-shotgun combo to turn them into ingredients.

For my current playthrough, I’m trying to avoid using most survivor gear and using the tailor’s kit to line clothes up with kevlar. Quite fun as the risk of infection is still there. I reckon the only survivor gear I’ll be using will be a light survivor mask… which is kinda odd since I chose strong back instead of a martial arts style since I wanted to lug around heavy survivor gear initially.

Playing a swordsdorf, somehow lost my short sword trying to fight a dark wyrm, before I resorted to kiting it and its buddy into magma. And now poison gas has blocked off the way out. Cuirass is dented and I can only stay warm by hovering near the magma. Just another day for a dwarf.

Had to dismantle a rope for string so I could make a makeshift knife, and found a shovel for crumping whatever problems magma can’t solve. I’ll either find a gas mask, have to try and tank the gas, or presumably wind up eaten by a giant cave spider.

A scenario where you start in a mine would be awesome.

Made the scenario start in the mine entrance.

And holy shit that was close. I should’ve tried to tank the gas running back out, not running deeper into the mine.

Looks like you didn’t have enough kevlar loincloth… :stuck_out_tongue:

Nope, all I had has simple metal armor and dwarven wine.

Next character is a big fighty troll. He lacks kevlar loincloths, but all he needs is a leather one.

Huge trait royally fucks with storage though.

I just found out I could build my own vehicle entirely from scratch, so I’ve been building up my mechanic skill and stripping parts of other vehicles and scavenging garages and hardware stores for a sweet zombie death mobile. But with the a horde dangerously close to my safehouse, I’m going to use my pickup to go to a gun store I haven’t scavenged to take all the steel plates from the doors and reinforce my windows better. Maybe put some kind of barrier around the outside door operators so they don’t get wrecked again.

Now if only I could get this metal door battered down.

EDIT: 16 strength isn’t enough to tear down a steel door bare-handed. +1 strength from meth plus a homewrecker isn’t enough? You know what IS enough?
