My quest is halfway complete: after collecting 27 silver bars and 12 gold bars, I shall throw away all of my ammunition and remake my entire ammo stores with custom-made gold and silver bullets.

In general, I seem to have gotten the hang of lab challenges.
Turrets, meet two by four.
Manhacks, meet two by four.
Bio-operators, lure into dissector twice. Might need a flashlight to get them to follow you at a decent distance, and knowledge of the area of the dissector being used so you can avoid getting pulped by the bio-operator. Luring them into a turret doesn’t help quite much.
Investing two points each on computers and electronics so the skill level of both will be 3 gives a very good chance to operate the bionic computers, and give a decent enough chance to install most CBMs.
Well, second character spawned in a bionic storage room instead, weird. I know have metabolic interchange, solar panels, firestarter…no power though.
Krav maga catgirl mutant just might stand a chance. owo
EDIT: Hah, so mutated that I only have an 8% chance of recruiting my starter NPC, savescumming ensued. Now though…shit, they can’t go up stairs can they? Oh well, at least she can teach me enough to get my trapping skill to 1, and since there’s a teleporter trap in the next room…
EDIT 2: Owie. Just because you can eat raw human meat without a morale penalty doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
Made it out of the lab with my first character ever using the teleporter traps. I have beak, tentacle arms and hooves and just slap zombies arround with my natural weaponry. Now I think lab start is best, bad day is too rng dependant.
I love my beak but i can’t wear any helmet or gasmask and my head is constantly taking damage, oh well.
I’m sticking with krav maga catgirl mutant, but I picked unstable-yet-robust genetics for later Fun. Even though I stuck with starter traits that don’t hinder clothing.
Seems I’ll need to milk more than 1 level in Trapping out of that start NPC though, I can’t reliably disarm telepads yet.
Also, good news? Found royal jelly, so parasites are gone. Bad news? I hate wasting royal jelly on illness caused by my forgetting to cook my creep before eating it.
I just realized i won’t be able to wear power armor or any hazmat suits… I’ve made a terrible mistake.
I know i could change my beak into fangs using mutagen, is there any way to change tentacle arms back into normal arms?

You could get lucky and find a glass flask of purifier in a lab- one of these should likely remove most of your bad mutations. If you can’t find any purifier, you could craft it given you have the right books, resources, skills. Also, crafting it require a really high cooking skill, so you’re better off simply hunting for purifier.
I don’t think you can purify innate mutations you took on character creation. You can change them with mutagen into another mutation and then purify that, for example innate beak -> fangs -> purify. From what I see the only mutation that cancels tentacle arms are paws and big paws, so I need to get these first and then purify.
Exactly why I stick with less-intrusive mutations.
That and I was going for a feline theme.
Did not know that- really glad I do know, instead of learning it The Hard Way 
Yeah, I cried a little when I wasted my purifier and all I got was “You feel cleansed”, on the other side, this is my most powerful character yet, oneshots everything with hoof kick + tentacle pimp slap + beak peck + ninjutsu katana, this character must be very good at multitasking to do all these at the same time, then again he does have 21 agility.
I’m gonna wait until I get out of this bloody lab before taking advantage of my long fingernails and fangs. owo
