What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Meanwhile, I’m working on modding in a style to work with the zweihander and other such weapons. Would like to get some feedback on my current ideas for it while I test it. owo

Derp ensues:

“The art of the longsword and other weapons, preceding the later development of fencing. Designed for combat both unarmored and in armor, it includes grappling as well as defensive and offensive sword techniques.”

Buff Effects:
Perfect Defense: On-attack buff, gives 2 bonus blocks right afterward.
Displacement: On-dodge buff, minimum 5 melee, exists to enable counter-attack techniques

Techniques:
Wide Strike: Stolen from Biojutsu, basic wide melee attack, minimum 8 melee.
Displace and Counter: Counter-attack that requires Displacement, minimum 5 melee, acts like a melee version of Boxing’s Cross-Counter.
Impaling Strike: Nothing but a renamed version of Biojutsu Impale, minimum 3 melee.
Grab: Melee and/or unarmed version of Krav Maga’s Grab, minimum 4 melee.
Grab Break: Krav Maga’s Grab Break edited to use melee as the relevant skill, minimum 4 melee.
Vicious Precision: Stolen from Pentjak Silat, minimum 4 melee.
Hamstring: Stolen from Pentjak Silat, minimum 2 melee.

Isn’t boxing cross counter very powerful when unarmed? Wouldn’t that deal absurd amount of damage with a weapon like zweihander?

Possibly, I think I could reduce the damage multiplier for it as a result. Might also reduce the bonus blocks from Perfect Defense to just 1.

You may want to look into this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_European_martial_arts and maybe extend the weapon list to quarter staff, war axe and mace, polearms and knives. These weapons are generally lacking so i don’t think it would be a problem of game balance.

I was considering quarterstaffs at the least, yus. Polearms…hmm. owo

We need proper halberds, for one.

One other issue, I dunno how to make a martial arts manual give swordsmanhip without source edits. EDIT: Nevermind, it seems I might be able to do it anyway.

// strip "manual_" from the start of the item id, add the rest to "style_"
std::string style_to_learn = "style_" + it->type->id.substr(7);

After a pile of dead characters, one lab run is looking up at long last!/deathflag

Seriously, started with fey eyes and pretty as one of the traits mostly to lure starting NPCs into joining me followed by chucking them into the dissector. After a sea of pipe rifles and makeshift crowbars, I finally get one with a shotgun. If I’m crazy enough for it, I could go down to the bottom floors and give the riot bots a piece of my mind and loot the place.

Then it got better. Found mutagen. Got strong (yay), chemical imbalance (not yay). Later found a purifier which took off both strong and chemical imbalance (not yay). However, found a mutated arm. Got strong again, and another arm gave me fey vision. Yaaay.

Hooray for fey vis.
Now I started a new play through with the lab challenge this time and so far things are alright. I only had to actually cheat once when I couldn’t find the exit of the lab. Any ways at the moment trustiest weapon is a wrench I believe. Also another nice thing is that while looting a city at night I came across a thermal electric suit which is making things comfy. I also have decent food supplies as to escape the zombies in a city I used the sewers and it got connected to an ant hill. Was surprised that I managed to lose the soldier ants. So now my main goal is to find a medical, electrical or mechanical skill book so I can install one of the three cbms I made off with it.

I’ve found 3 artifacts so far, and each one is an Itchy artifact. I’ve got an itchy knot, and itchy rod, and an itchy something else.

This must be a sign from the RNG god.

So now all you need are two itchy orbs? o3o

I hope the other itchy thing isn’t well I guess too late since the rod. But I think it means someone wants you to get rash cream. That should actually be a thing getting a cream to deal with itchiness.

Well crap.

Well crap.
I feel itchy now.

That joke was inevitable.

How would noodles of doom taste?

…
It is terrifying.

One weird thing I found was that a pawn shop and a house spawned together (quite literally) and the back door for the pawn shop and a door for the hose were right next to each other. Talk about access to work.

Which is that to?

Itchy noodles. Doesn’t sound tasty. owo
