What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

FIGHT! That’s your job description, after all.

I decided to cheat a bit. Since I’m dying, I cheated to have an RDX charge in my inventory. I activated that sucker, and stepped outside when the timer was ready to blow. And it went out, and killed me and everything else in view.

Gonna start a new world. No hordes again, but gonna up the spawn rate to around 15-30.

I think my NPC companion might’ve killed it while I was scrambling to cut up sheets to sew things due to freezing in my leather armor. >w>

Oh well, now the fightening can begin properly.

EDIT: Go home garage, you’re drunk.

EDIT 2: Nearby house has a panic room of sorts entered via metal doors, contains supply racks, several beds, and a fireplace. Mood music while fightan’ undead ensues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYKdl-FvYIU

So my new start has a nearby refugee center on the map, and amazingly it’s far from any town or city. I accept the mission to clear the area of zombies. I kill some, and I set up a 4x4 area with clothing, and light it on fire. I lure out zombies from their main room to the fire, so far so good. Around 40 kills by my hand, and who knows how many from fire. I manage to nab a hacksaw, a hammer, a hatchet, a screwdriver, and a wrench from the fire pile before it all burns up. Also got a slightly damaged military rucksack, a utility vest, and other handy items.

Rain starts, still a few more zombies to go. So I decide to let some of the NPCs in the center handle it. I run up to the entrance, open both doors, and watch as the guards open fire.

…and then the freaking arsonist throws a molotov into the entrance, where I’m currently standing in.

Such derp.

Meanwhile I plan to eventually find a cathedral for this NPC. Makes sense that ye olde fighter would aid a brother-in-arms in his quest to retrieve a relic from the clutches of the undead. owo

Random dragon, loving that panic room house, need to find one too

Yus, it’ll prove quite useful, though I still intend to fortify the evac shelter.

I am also mildly annoyed at the fact that the Evacuee scenario now only lets you start in a shelter. ;w;

I noticed that one of the available recipes for you with copper wire was a smoke generator. May I ask what mod that is from?

I think that might be from Blaze’s mod, I’m assuming.

Annoyingly, when I’m running through the list of install options, several turrets are giving me “build item not found” errors when highlighted.

Which version of cataclysm are you running I don’t have that on mine?

af21398 according to the title screen.

Also, whee. Smoker zombies pop in a lovely manner when run through with a broadsword.

Issue being that you have to hit them first. It seems that bashing weapons are better suited for enemies that are hard to hit. Also I wish the forged sword was not so easy to get stuck in things. I like the broadsword but I still want something a little faster.

Hmm. It seems that the Fighter has enough fightan’ power to reliably hit smoker zombies with a broadsword, unless they’ve been nerfed.

Or maybe you just need to be listening to Heidevolk while fighting them, like I was at the time. o3o

No I mean as an average survivor not a fighter. (also note that I’m not gonna be on the forums for a while in about ten minutes due to an AP test)

Ah right, though their combat skill investment is usually reachable for a survivor with enough min-maxing. And ah, is fine. owo

Also plotting to put a smoking rack and charcoal kiln in my base.

Spawned near two toxic waste dumps, and one sarcophagus. I’m like, well why not, and go there and bask in the radioactive glow. Got a couple of decent items, but more importantly, a science ID card in a corpse pile towards the sarcophagus. And there’s a lab near my spawn point. Dragging a 30 gallon drum from one of the toxic waste dumps, I head on out to the lab.

I start feeling the radiation pains, mutate some bad ones. I wanted to make the first floor of the lab in the temporary base, but I decide to be a bit crazy and go down and search for some purifiers. I find a few nice things, funnel for the drum, lots of clean water, and the purifier, quite a decent number of them.

So I hit up the purifier serum to get rid of my radiation brought mutations, and take a couple of mutagens. If I get another bad one, well, it’s back to square one with purifier. End result, a thick tail and beautiful… not exactly the greatest mutations, so I’ll take it. If I find another mutagen I’ll get to mutating again.

Then I encounter a friendly NPC underground. I somehow manage to threaten him to drop his weapon, a L12 defender… which I then promptly use to murderize the NPC. Hey, meat’s meat.

Ow, fucking smoker zombies in basements. The coughing is more annoying than actually fighting them.

Also, need higher construction skill for my smoke rack. ;w;

Also also, fucking coughing has done me more damage than those 3-4 smoker zombies in that basement did on their own.

Started learning how to use computers the pioneer way; destroy turrets with two by fours and getting electrocuted by the console.

You mean the manly way.

EDIT: Damn, I was hoping the nearby surplus store would have a gas mask.

Well, hell, I managed to reach the bottom floor of the lab. Threw two by fours at the manhack, shot up the security bots with a slightly damaged L12. No glass walls on the central area. So loot, quite a good number of loot. The A7 and V29; could be handy since I got a UPS, and I think an advanced UPS as well. Quantum solar panels as well. Fusion gun with 140 rounds of fusion cells lying around too, and a computer printout.

And if there were walls, I’d have seriously considered doing it the crazy way. Get several layers of clothing; bring out all the bandages and first aid kits I could carry, and walk through the dissectors, and back. Going into the loot pile I’d use the first aid kits and bandages, and I’ll walk out and do the manly thing and let the wounds heal naturally.

Meanwhile the best loot I’ve found is some C4 and a UPS. owo
