What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

All the fungus must be destroyed. Well done.

As for me, upping up the spawn rate even further certainly made things more interesting. Night raids have been so far a little trickier, since there’s just so many. There’s a ton of houses that are collapsed due to so many zombies.

Some other interesting things:

Found a refugee center. Did the first quest with the merchant. Instead of going inside and opening the doors there, I decide to go outside instead. This is due to the tendency of the guard in the other room to shoot me by mistake whenever I open the doors. I go around, and notice the shocker zombie that’s the target is outside, and the windows are closed.

I kill it and butcher the corpse. Then, the windows break, and some of the walls collapse. As it turns out, the reason that there were zombies outside was because the room was already packed. Around 77 zombies were on view when I pressed shift v. In other words, ohcrap. It was daylight, and currently had no cover, so I make a run for it to the east. Then I saw two advanced solar cars, and I think damn I want those panels. So I move down south, and use a few amount of shrubs as cover.

I survive, but my head is infected and my other body parts are pretty banged up. I finally found a hacksaw, so at least there’s that. Since I have no torch, having no hacksaw was a bit troubling since I can’t upgrade my wheelbarrow.

The second merchant quest was close in the area, but unfortunately the cars they had there were wrecked from the fight.

The first old guard quest will be a headache, since it’s at least five whole screens away in unexplored territory on the map from where I stood.

I play on x20 spawn, and yes, many buildings are collapsed. With just a little work, I can deal with most everything, though… except spitter/shocker multi-combis. That’s just brutal. Had a fight against 10+ shockers yesterday that would have been a death sentence without dielectric capacitance. Not sure how many it was since the 4+ spitters nuked several of the corpses (#$%^Y&$#$%^&!!!). I butchered 7 shockers and 2 shocker brutes afterwards, and I’m sure I lost at least 3 corpses (probably more).

Bloody spitters.

Yeah, so far I had to go with a slow raid during the day than trying to go at it at night. Started with a crossbow and slowly moved on up to the bolt rifle. Just staying at the edge, luring in crowds to the open fields, and killing them there. If they get too close I melee them, but for most part the rifle or the crossbow seems to work well enough.

Main problem is wandering NPCs suddenly spawning near and making a ruckus. Early on an NPC threw a molotov next to a hardware store in a small town, and since I didn’t have any tools and a wheelbarrow, I decided to risk it before the building burned down.

I did get a wheelbarrow, and some tools that I needed, but If I nearly got cooked. Like seriously, the moment I stepped out of the building, the fire caught up to the walls and collapsed the area behind me.

Well, something just happened in my game, so I guess I’ll post it here. So I was driving down a road at respectable speeds(132 km/h), when I suddenly fumbled with the controls. Now, this wouldnt have been so bad, if I wasnt going off road, heading toward a town. At high speeds. The inevitable happened. My homebase truck was now two/thirds into a building.sigh well, at least I’m still alive. Now I just have to find a way to get out of the horde of zambies surronding my truck…

Sorry for any grammar mistakes, I am french.

Also, all the smashed up buildings fit quite nicely with the apocalyptic setting of the game.

As for what’s happening so far, found a lab. Before that, on the southwest corner of my visible map I notice that fungaloids and spore clouds are rising from the water. So I go in the nearby lab, and as it turns out, there’s a fungal bloom across a wide river, and the map didn’t reveal any nearby bridges. So yeah, gonna stay away from the southwest until I build a boat, and enough fire to purge the fungals off that place.

There’s also a slime pit way up north, but that won’t be too much of a problem.

As for the lab, it’s one of those one floor only labs. Main room was a guns room which didn’t have any interesting guns, or ammo for that matter. It did have one quantum solar panel, so that’s going into my home rig. Gonna replace my bookshelf fort with a board fort, and set up all the stuff I need.

Also, one benefit I did notice about the too many zombies and smashed buildings is that most of them are pretty badly injured, making killing them easier. On the flipside, since some of them died before under the rubble their loot is also buried. Took a looooooong time to find a hacksaw and a wrench.

Killed two jabberwocks. One i ran over with my truck then finished it off with nodachi. Second i got high on meth and adderall and sliced it up. Ate some weird berries that made me mutate and spawn fungi monsters. Had 5 npcs following me arround, until they cornered me in a hallway and I couldn’t move. Had to kill them. Rip in peace npcs.

Just started a new character named Robert Makepulp. Gave him 18 strength to start and only 4 intelligence. Within the first 10 hours of the game I stumbled across a Granade in a crate. Took a chance with it. Robert Makepulp now has 26 strength. I think that’s awfully appropriate.

Went down the hazardous waste sarcophagus. Oddly enough, above ground the radiation was everywhere, but below ground there wasn’t any at all. Scanned around the entire place, absolutely nothing.

Still, I ain’t taking off the hazmat suit. There was one time where I unwisely took some mutagen while in the sarcophagus. Next thing I know I grow antlers, followed by getting knocked out, followed by getting a severe dose of radiation.

Oh what a wonderful new morning, turn around a corner Wild Elite Zombie Grenadier appears!

10 second pause to think about the situation.

This can’t be good. It throws tear gas hack at me. Run for door. Hack barely catches me before I can slam door to its face. Manage to hack it in melee before it explodes. Close the door, pick gas mask and rifle.

Elite Grenadier keeps throwing all kind of hacks at me. Shoot all the hacks as they approach. Throw molotov at Grenadier. Grenadier throws out another grenade hack and it instantly explodes in flames. Explosion kills Elite Grenadier and firework ensures.

Welp

I DON’T want to see one again soon D:

So I was raiding a line of houses. I find one basement, kill the zombies down and start to collect loot. Then, I hear a noise coming from a wall. Must be another basement, but I remember that I already checked out the house in that direction and found no stairs. Okay, so the stairs must be hidden on a desk or something. Instead of going to that house to check every bed and counter and whatnot, I decide to simply use probability travel.

Just a normal basement. Zombies to kill, items to loot. Out of curiosity I decide to take the stairs and see where they’re located.

I go up to find myself stuck on a wall. Whoops. I quickly step to the south, which was a bad idea since that was towards the open street and into a swarm of zombies, and my cranial flashlight is still on. I use probability travel again, back to the other house as I grab the wheelbarrow and high tail it outta there.

Trying to hunt down the recipe for Alpha mutagen. I’ve found multiple Chimera and Medical recipes, along with a single Elf-A from a sewage place, but no Raptor or Alpha so far. I’m tempted to just spawn the recipe in since making all the serum is gonna be a project itself, but I don’t like cheating unless I really feel it’s justified (like gaining a beak mutation completely destroying my RM13 armor instead of pushing it off like a different mouth mutation did). Also tempted to just settle for a different threshold, but I allocated this character’s stats specifically for the purpose of getting the most out of the Prime mutations.

I’ve had more luck finding the alpha recipe on dead military corpses/lying around outside wasp-infested houses rather than labs, so maybe that helps. On the same note, Alpha mutagen requires a lot to make- about 2 slime/2 bird/2 plant mutagens + 4 purifiers to make one alpha mutagen, so in the meantime you could stock up on those while waiting to find the fabled Book of Alpha

My Naturalist girl killed a tough zombie meters away from her house-cum-underground-base-to-be when returning from a limited scouting trip at night. Sharp rocks and some throwing skills.

Then she went back to the farm for the day where she cooked and read books. For the night, it’s back to scouting the town and killing off Zs.

A flu is happening.
Literally the first thing in a new start (evacuee).
And, of course, to make things worse, the room I started in (house) happened to contain a zombie child.

On my way to a lab, there was a flash of a red @ coming from the east. At first I thought it was a hostile survivor, so my general plan is to find whoever that is and kill them for food.

Then I notice that it’s actual cannibal Shia LaBeouf. Now the plan is to kill him, of course. First time I encountered him, so I’m gonna hunt him down without any doubt. It’s a huge forest full of big trees, so the search has been problematic. Nonetheless, I ain’t gonna stop until I add him to my photo collection.

Finally found a recipe for the alpha mutagen, so I’ve been grinding out serums. Managed to pass the threshold, no Prime stat mutations yet. Burnt through my reserves of ammonia and bleach, which means I’m off to find a lab to restock. I found a slime pit and got enough blob globs to last me awhile. I think I might need to add another cargo space to my vehicle just so it’s easier to stock up on massive amounts of reagents before I wander off to another area in search of more. The laser rifle + UPS bionic is seriously amazing. Made harvesting the slime pit a breeze.

every ups powered thing+ ups cbm is great, when amout of enemies in labs skyrocketed (for a while, now its normal like before) getting high max power and power was easy and running out of power without using time dialation was realy hard

Well, in 0.C at least, Prime stat mutations don’t work like the wiki says they do. I had 13 base perception, got the smart mutation, then jumped to Prime Intelligence, which raised it to only 15. I was under the impression that I’d get the Very Smart mutation first as a prereq, and this score would be used for calculating my post-prime intelligence, which I figured would wind up being 18.

With a little more checking in the debug menu, the “Very” mutations are prereqs for prime perception and strength, but Prime dex and int only require “Smart” and “Dextrous”. Still, giving myself “Prime Strength” through the menu definitely gave me “Very Strong” first and I still only wound up with 15 strength at the end. Using purifier to get rid of the mutations also reduces my strength to 8 instead of my base strength of 13. I don’t know if I want to just edit my stats up to where I thought they’d be or just reset them to base values and pick a different threshold.

Day one: Spawn in shelter. Take a step, hear crunching outside. Look at map: Triffid grove 3 tiles away. Bugger that. Grab what I can from the shelter and leg it. Manage to find another shelter nearby (but outside the reality bubble of the Triffids). Spend the day crafting some useful tools and clothing.

Night one: Into town. Grab stuff. Drop stuff off. Rinse and repeat. Find a working car, with keys, and the security system smashed up and disabled.

This should be a fun run.

I think I shall have to try a ninja character. Ooh, classic roguelike mod would go well with it…
