What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?
Pa got a large effective buff against acid splashes recently, so I’m a bit surprised at ‘one or two turns’. I suspect it was a bit more.
Probably acid could use a nerf in general, I mean ‘dissolving all your clothes to uselessness’ is pretty potent stuff. I don’t think it’s been revisited since whales days.
That’s odd. What was changed to make power armor more resistant to acid? It presumably wasn’t a material change, since plastic still shows an acid protect of 2, while the other power armor materials all have 0 protection.

maybe you need to update to more recent version before com paining about recent updates?

If you mean this fix is in the nightly builds, then I should look into it.

If you mean the more recent stable release, way ahead of you. I’m on 0.C already.

Ah. there you go. I think most people play the most recent experimental builds because why not. Beta testing stuff is half the fun, discovering something and going WOW, THAT needs tweaking helps keep the game fresh… like hitting squirrels at 2k per hour and rediscovering space flight and what the continent looks like when you crash through forests sideways and get out of the car ok.

I stand corrected then. I have been thinking I should poke into the experimental builds. I kept putting it off until, next thing I know, there’s a new stable build and I get engrossed with all the features that I’d been missing. ;A;

So I’m guessing that “moar acid protect” is already on the list of ideas floating around in the experimental builds? If so that does make my suggestion rather pointless. If the nerf to horrible armor-melting goop is due to something else being tweaked, like a nerf of acid damage in general, then I’m simply curious. owo

EDIT: Well, eyeballing it on github, gonna have to figure out the fine art of compiling, though for now starting by downloading as zip to see what I learn by staring at the uncompiled files. This is gonna hurt.

EDIT 2: Either I did not actually get an experimental build that fixed acid protection, I’m looking at it wrong, OR the acid fixes being mentioned do not actually involve tacking acid resistance onto steel.

Or you could go to the link a few inches under the link you use to download stable Cata on the Cataclysm website, the one labeled “experimental builds”. :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah, the experimentals are just as stable as the stables. You’re better off with them.

And yeah, “one or two turns” was from at least a few weeks ago, so if things have changed since then, well, things have changed since then.

Already got the master branch of the source from Github, currently manhandling the whole “hurpdurp how do I compile” issue.

My point still stands though, as the master branch at least does not seem to include any changes to the actual acid resistance of the materials I mentioned.

And that point will continue to stand until someone clarifies WHERE this fix actually is, and what was changed to fix it.

While we’re on the subject, is there some centralized list of what changes the dev team have decided would be good ideas for someone to implement in the near future? Some kind of big list of “we’ve decided that such and such needs a nerf, such and such needs buffed, such and such feature should be added”?

just get the file from the cata download page. Google it and go to home page instead of forums.

It could also use a buff vs. flesh. Or maybe just less protection from armor.

Would be cool if the damage resistance dependent on acid resistance of the armor instead of just environmental protection. Would make rubber boots actually useful for something besides making lots of plastic chunks.

Not sure. The Latest Experimental Features ( http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=5877.0 ) thread is mostly an ongoing discussion of what’s being implemented, not sure where one’d find an organized list.

Now, I should go back to compiling instead of griping at Litppunk. =w=

Download source, on the sidebar of the main page?

Oh wait nope, experimental builds. Got it.

If you’re going to tell me not to suggest something without updating first, try to make sure you actually know whether that update actually changed what was suggested.

my second character just died after his 751st kill…
thought he’d celebrate by eating cougar…
Shoulda known that gas pumps exploded…
He survived the first explosion…
but not the following three explosions…
morel of the story don’t light gasoline on fire next to a gas pump.
Was near getting to summer too.

…I think I lost my second character ever to trying to smash a gas pump because I couldn’t figure out a way to steal the gas instead of paying for it, if I recall. o3o

EDIT: Meanwhile in eyeballing the experimental build…OOH, they added the “granular encumbrance” idea I’ve heard suggested before. Only problem is that, for torso ENC at least, an added 5 encumbrance doesn’t seem to affect melee or dodge skill. Even weirder given the dodge penalty says -5.0, implying it can handle decimal reductions.

If you're going to bitch at me not to suggest something without updating first, try to make sure you actually know whether that update actually changed what was suggested.

 shoulda figured that Id be wrong since I didn’t check… dling experimental from main page just seems easier… You WERE doing experimentals right? I don’t think they made any changes to C.0 yet, except to add some languages they missed at first, which is why I was referring to experimentals.

They actually did port over a lot of formerly-experimental content to 0.C, like tainted bones/fat/tallow and chainmail, for example.

But yeah, now that I found the experimental off of the main page…sorry about getting pissed off at you. ^^"

I was mostly just curious as to whether the experimental builds did any material tweaks like what I was suggesting, which so far seems like they haven’t yet.

Im actually out of date on recent experimentals because they come out faster than I can do one character. Current character is on day 9 and I already can’t wait for her to die so I can move to the next experimental with better encumbrance and nerved tailor system

I think I just might love this new encumbrance system.

Meanwhile in Cataclysm modding, I’m updating my crafting-focused mod to 0.C standards. Also? I shall add hard cheese. owo

please throw a link into my list of mods thread in the lab ^.^ Need someone to post first mod link so I can start organizing.

but its MY world. Athena doesn’t just get dumped from universe to universe. She is in a shelter in the middle of the forest with nothing in map range but a lab. Not going to change the world around her. Ill let her die first… might be a while as she REFUSES to do anything remotely dangerous while her pain continues to hover around 2700. Pansy, looses all stats down to 0 from pain (int is based at 14) and decides to “play it safe” until she is “better” what a ridiculous notion.
