level 1 of most things is easy to get. Almost everything has level 0 recipes…the only exception being mechanics, and computers? Looks like there is ONE way to train mechanics without books. Welding piles of scrap metal/rebar into chunks. Removing batteries is level 1 ability right? or is it level 0 too? my only current char has no way to check. Leveling basically everything is pretty easy, and having enough materials to keep leveled is only slightly harder even in the middle of forest sheltered scenario with only a single lab in sight.
Battery removal is level 1 I think, and also requires a wrench.
Lockpicking also trains mechanics though. The few vehicles I can SMASH to get plenty of metal for improvised lockpicks. Because I turned city density to 1, LOCKED DOORS will be the thing I’m struggling to find.
And for computers? Pbbbt, barbarian no need silly baby computer skill. Illiteracy also fucked me over in the “using computers” department owo
Yeah, I picked illiterate barbarian for flavor purposes. Besides, with item spawns at bare minimum, I’m not gonna see many books.
And I’ve never encountered a situation where I could both get quadruple-digit pain levels and survive whatever lunacy caused it, so I would assume it’s gonna take a damn long time for it to dissipate.
Also, I’ve never been so pleased to encounter a wolf pack. Fresh meat, fat, and pelts that walk right into my axe? Hell yes.
well the dam “stung” effect still won’t go away, so the pain just keeps fluctuating. Haven’t slept in days… getting tired…so so…tired… OW owowowow ow dam stings… guess thats why they call em that… … Poor Athena just wana sleep.
Random stupid idea: adrenaline injector? You’d think that’d only be useful against beeeeees if allergic reactions were coded in.
On second thought, that would be hilarious.
Meanwhile in my adventure, I should save these bones for bone armor I guess. Or I can make superglue, which makes me a happy camper. Small problem though…is the recipe for duct tape autolearned, or only available in books?
Only available in books.
Abandon all hope.
FFFFFFFF-
Okay, I guess that superglue I made was only reeally to get my cooking skill up to 3 so I could make jerky before my gmae could spoil.
Bone armor it is then. I almost wish there as a “metal as FUCK” counterpart to the Stylish skill, because my character is at Manowar levels at this point. o3o
yep I am afraid duct tape is book only. But definitely make glue with those bones. Bone armor is surprisingly ineffective, with high weight and some encumbrance. If I am not mistaken, leather is more effective somehow.
Hmm. Bone armor does have more protection than leather tough, but not by much. Way worse encumbrance, but only the helmet has been at “you’re fucked” levels of penalties though.
I’ll have to see if superglue is good for anything autolearned though.
Also, randomly found a gallon jug while foraging. Trash has never been so awesome.
Also, arrows? For a barbarian? Who do you think I am, a Parthian? o3o
hmm true. Most super glue recipes come from books. But its still super useful. What was it that I found that was like WTF bone armor, you so useless… maybe it was survivor armor… thought there was something else too though. Oh I think bone boots are outclassed by most everything or something.
Anything metal or kevlar likely outclasses bone and leather in general, I think.
I think boiled leather and plated leather might compete with or beat bone, but I’ll have to check. And see if I can make them without books.
uses debug wish menu to check
Hmm. Bone body armor has 12/12 bash/cut protection. Leather has the exact same value, as does fur body armor. Fur and bone both have 1 more encumbrance than leather. Fur body armor has 60 warmth, leather 25, and bone 20. Leatrher armor has 8 storage, fur has 4, and bone has 0. Bone has 95% coverage, fur has 90, and leather has 85.
EDIT: Also, boiled leather armor gains 15/15 protection in exchange for only 20 warmth and 4 storage, and 3 encumbrance. Chitinous body armor has a whopping 18/24 protection, 90% coverage, 2 encumbrance, 10 warmth, and 0 storage.
Really, if I wanted armor that WASN’T shit, I would’ve started as a fighter or knight instead of giving barbarians a fur cloak and bone helmet.
EDIT 2: Hmm, it seems installing a travois or water barrel are the only vehicle additions available to me that use level 0 mechanics.
