What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Stroyteller. 91 day seasons players UNITE! It’s a fun challenge if ever.

Currently on the 21st day of summer and boy have things been eventful since the Apocalypse RV got roadworthy. I decided to go explore to the east and found a marina being swarmed by ants and zombies attempting to kill each other and me. The RV mulches them with the ram frame and blades affixed to the front. After the area was clear I proceeded to butcher ants and loot zombies. Filling up the fridge with meat that i proceeded to turn into ant jerky using a local swamp for salt. Conserving my delicious on board supplies of seasoning for grander dishes. A few minor repairs with the rig welder and away again into the wild.

I found two labs near each other and have mostly cleared out the top two floors. Finding more books on chemistry and cooking, fabrication and programming. Which I used to raid two vaults of bionics in one lab. Nothing too fancy. but once I get enough medical levels. I am going to be cybering up some fun utility CBMs. I also was able to use parts found there to finally complete my Foodco kitchen buddy. As well as an on board chemistry set to complete the medley of accessories on the RV. I also found a few mutagens and serums, jelly and a purifier. I chugged the one normal mutagen and all I got was weak stomach. Holding back till I find enough supplies to get some jerry cans filled with purifier and mutagen and do this properly. There was also a database I downloaded giving me a map showing the region near the second lab. 3 ants nests, 2 beehives, 2 mansions and a second city to the east. but the route via road is circuitous due to swamp and terrain if i want to bring my RV there ( 7 city size ). All in good time. I still have unfinished business in Riverside. The nickname i have given to this 25+ block across town I started near and cleared about a quarter of. Though that end now has a thriving set of post apocalyptic scavengers that I wouldn’t trust with a can of beans. never mind live near.

I return to Riverside . knowing it has plentiful scrap from blocks of fighting and destruction waged the past few months across its streets with zombies and survivors. At length I end up forging myself a suit of plate armour, boots, gauntlets and Great helm. An awl Pike and a backup rapier. Finally replacing my trusty bone armour. Topped off with a survivor trench coat and cargo pants, survivor belt and heavy rucksack. With a holstered USP .45 and shells to spare. it;s time to get medieval and return to marauding this city. With my hard plated RV base to operate from as summer grinds on. I also need to find me a stethoscope at the local hospital. Not that I know where it is. FINALLY find out what is in all the safes I have earmarked out on my loot runs. And hopefully get enough medical know-how to attempt removing these failed cyborg implants.

Did you start as a failed cyborg, or pick them up along the way attempting installation before you were ready?

Started off as one. Currently recuperating after a failed attempt at removing the electric drain. I haven;t been able to find any medical books past lvl 3. But i have good electronics skills at least.

Another few weeks taken up partly by running over zombies, Recuperating from two colds. Lost the plate body and boots sadly due to spitters. So decided to re use the bone armour. Which has worked out awesome in tandem with the Rapier. As piercing weapons go it;s my new favourite. Though i am impressed with the survivor naginata. Got a stehoscope to only find 4 safes empty that i have cracked so far. Slowly clearing the city of dead. And am just about to go on another hunting trip to dehydrate / jerkify a ton more meat and plants. managed to install some power CBMs and a metabolic interchange . The Death RV is holding up great. Cargo capacity is running at a premium though. and am considering adding floor trunks and external cargo to the rear.

bone armor doesn’t seem to hold snuff against the better leather items, armored gauntlets and boots and such seem to work really well for early armor. Better resistances for less encumbrance if I remember correctly. I have ended up going as much of the encumbrance lacking route as possible, and am currently skating nude in the summer as stated before in favor of speed.

I guess I’ve just been lucky with mine. It’s barely needed any repairs thus far and was easy to make. Been bounced around by hulks and brutes aplenty wearing this suit of it and barely lose any bars in health. Plus I like the mental image of a rapier wielding bone armour clad post apoc survivor riding through to victory in his plated up RV of death. But all the best with your naked skater!

XD that is a funny image. Especially since I don’t have a sister and that is a mirage from a flaming eyeball that is louring you to its portal, to be taken to their dimension to do unspeakable horrors upon your flesh and mind.

Sounds kinky.

Sounds like Friday night in my local.

Just started a new 91-day-season game, inspired by others in this thread, and began my usual add-flavor-to-the-world routine: run through each of my favorite opening scenarios to get killed while disturbing zombies and loot in some part of the map. Having died fleeing the hospital, the mall, and the fire station, I start anew in the police station … and, well, between her standard-issue sidearm (for the spitter and shocker zombies), a machete from the hardware store down the street, and the good old Mark I fists, Chantay Kennedy has killed twenty undead, juked her way across to an empty house, and closed up all the curtains to achieve minimal base security in the middle of the city. And none of the beasts seem to be following her.

She’s got a nasty bite on the torso, but she might actually make it through this. Time to sort out her supplies and plan the next move.

yea that sounds like a fun way to do it. When I am finished with this character (Jack Rouge) I think I will do the same.

First Spring, day 45:

Kevin still hasn’t come back from… wherever. I don’t know where, because he never tells me anything. Are all big brothers so frustrating and worrisome? How am I supposed to help him if he’s in trouble, huh? What a jerk-ass. He probably just left like he did back then. No good-byes, no explanations… just gone in the middle of the night. Well, screw you Kevin LePine! Some half-assed brother you turned out to be! I was better off on my own, anyways! The food will last longer!

I’m not so sure about the gas though. I built the generator in the basement with a much bigger engine than I’d originally intended. On the plus side, it’s filling up the battery much faster than the original blueprint would have. On the down-side, I may have to start making more frequent trips into the city in order to stockpile enough gas to make it through the winter. There’s still a bit at the station where I got the last can, but there’s also three other stations on the west side of town I haven’t even touched. I’ve marked 'em with an exclamation point on the map, so I don’t forget. There’s also a couple gun stores over there… but I don’t know. My last couple of hauls from those places were kinda… disappointing? There’s never enough ammo that I can actually use, and the security is always a pain in the ass to get through. Last time, I just plowed straight through the back wall with a car… dove out at the last second, like in that ‘Joseph Caine’ book I was reading last night! Yeah, tucking and rolling might keep you from breaking your neck… but it still hurts like hell.

All of this is hypothetical, of course. Today’s a total waste. I’m too sore from moving around all those mechanical components to do anything more strenuous than go outside and take a crap. I haven’t even gotten up the energy to walk across the room and COOK something for breakfast. I’ve been munching on graham crackers and sipping room-temperature coffee ever since I woke up. This is patheti-… hold that thought!

Joey’s on the radio! I’ve got to go take this. Don’t worry, though… I’ll get back to you later. Promise.

Happy Armageddon!

I AM BECOME DEATH

Sadly my failed cyborg has met his end. Spent the summer raiding the labs completely I had found. Was going to go find somewhere to go set up a more permanent base and leave the lab i was in. Picked the wrong door in a cold lab and got swarmed by upwards of 30 manhacks released by scientist zombies trying in vain to get to a contained Mi go. Before I could close the door or run for the stairs the swarm buzzed through the doors and hacked me limb from agonising limb. I had just tanked a few turrets one earlier exploring and wasn’t in best of shape.

Time to download another experimental build and take to the apocalypse again!

Was going to a prison for loot as my catman detective, when I come across an LMOE shelter. But instead of letting me go downstairs, it says it has a sheer drop halfway down. I’m pretty well equipped (not counting my lack of a rope) so I jump down anyways. Turns out the nearby ant colony completely dug out the shelter, including the stairs. I’ve got full NV so it won’t be too hard to get out, but it would’ve been nice to have all that stuff from the shelter.

Sadly, Chantay Kennedy died the first night of the Cataclysm - she made it to the pharmacy in the dark, but a power-armor equipped zombie soldier broke its way in and beat her quite severely around the head. Which she survived, but ten minutes later a fat zombie on the street outside got a couple lucky blows in when she was trying to get home.

…eh, death was the original plan for this character. rerolls

Holy crap IT’S HAPPENING!

After three gruelling days stuck 5 levels down a lab. Corey Okeefe. The unwilling mutant. Has escaped captivity. Subsisting off a diet of crisps, soda, purified toilet water. And cooked creep. Despite his disgust he was able to hold it together. Crafted a bunch of survival gear and crude armour. And was able to find a few lab journal and experiment note books. The big game changer was finding a teleporter. Creeping to the ground floor in the dead of night. Activating it and reappearing on the other side of the wall in the forest outside the bunker!

The surrounding area is seemingly heavy forest, swamp and one road that crosses the local river. Time to forge on out of here and find somewhere to lay my head!

Nice! Everyone makes such a big deal about toilet water… I would like to point out you are getting the water from the tank behind the toilet, there is nothing nasty about the water except that it has been stagnate since the apocalypse. In theory it should still be clean. That said congrats on all the small victories that led to a large scale one, I hope this character has a long and successful life for you.

Thanks! Oh yes I do know about the toilet water thing. Just stagnant cistern water heh.Yeah I was lucky enough to find purification tablets in a store room on my delving the labs rooms. Just cleared out a public school and set camp in the library. Moved bookshelves around my loot stash so rogue survivors don’t steal or make off with my hard won spoils till I can build some crates for secure storage. There is a town to the south that looks good for foraging later. And have a week or twos food in the schools kitchen stores to live off of whilst I read books, Robotics for profit was in the library as were some fabrication and mechanics skillbooks. Going to use this as a base for time being. Then look into securing a working vehicle or fortify somewhere more permanent. Maybe brew up some mutagen and continue the experiments I was forced into on myself. on my terms :D.

Edit. Unfortunately an npc tried to hold him up and auto fired him to death before he could escape in the night. Right after looting a mansion of some broadswords. AH well. Another mutant will have its day. Just very fun to actually escape the lab for once.

What O.o that sounds interesting don’t skip over that. details man, moving bookshelves prevents raiders from stealing shit? are you blocking sight lines or something? Also how are you moving bookshelves? Same way you move shopping carts and other drag-ables? I guess I always kinda knew you could move anything that wasn’t to heavy but somehow it seemed like everything was to heavy/never bothered trying.

When you [G]rab a bookshelf, you push it in the direction you type, instead of moving and dragging it behind you the way you would with a shopping cart or wheelbarrow.
