Ahhh NPCs.
Herrith Sebon says: “Let’s talk, friend!”
“Drop your weapon!”
“Screw you!”
Herrith Sebon turns hostile!
You draw your smashed Remington 870 (6)
Kerblam!
Headshot!
Herrith Sebon dies!
You butcher the corpse.
Good talk.

You forgot the part when you draw your weapon, he starts chasing down a giant fly.
Managed to survive the encounter and came back during the day with a sniper rifle. Found the creature that was causing the laser beams, but ran out of ammo trying to snipe it down (seriously, whats with all these creatures shrugging off 100+ dmg headshots.) Did not find a nether portal but did find a new berry bush that I have never seen before. Can’t risk trying to go for it now, but given the enemies around I am guessing that they are some really spoilery. Even if I could reach that plant, it is too early in my run (Spring day 12) to risk losing my character trying out something new.
If there are marloss bushes in the middle of nowhere, chances are, the portal is really, really close by. I suggest avoiding it for now. The portal tends to spawn nether-creatures from time to time. Most of them deadly to early-game survivors. I’m currently in the middle of acquiring enough resource to seal away the portal that I found in my game.
How do you seal portals? Not explosives, I remember how that went.
At first, I tried surrounding it with blade traps. But it turns out that the nether-spawns are either too fast/nimble to be affected by them, or are able to fly, avoiding the traps completely.
Now, I’ve surrounded the portal with a 4-tile radius of spiked pits and caltrops. Next, I’ll be building a walled enclosure around it before releasing a swarm of manhacks into it. I think that would at least kill most of anything that crawl out of the portal.

Bam, proper working Z-levels come along and the creatures fly over your pathetic walls.
You know, I wonder if multi-Z level high creatures could be programmed? Probably not…

See that’s the thing, when I drew my shotgun I’d imagine I drew it more or less into his nose. I was in bitch-slap range.
Just ran into an NPC camp…
I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY REMEMBERING TO FUNCTION POLITELY IN SOCIETY. I MUST STOP THINKING OF THEM AS FOOD.
EDIT: I just used a noisemaker to summon a horde to distract them while I broke into their food stores.
EDIT: I decided to burn down their shelter after the trader screwed me on a pistol.
EDIT: Rock is insultingly fireproof. Gonna find some explosives and return later.
EDIT: Crashed a bus into the lobby, bus’ gas tank exploded. Mission Accomplished.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

He did say he would be back with explosives, I think the gas tanks count as explosives.
I’m still in my boarded-up garage. The zombies finished destroying the wreck and dispersed. They are everywhere, even brushing up next to my garage, but they do not bash on the walls. So, out of boredom, I hacked one of the eyebots.
The zombies instantly turn toward the friendly eyebot. I have made a terrible mistake.
…I think my NPC bodyguard got bit.
Time to make lunch.
THEY HAVE BROKEN THROUGH THE LEFT WALL
OPEN THE GATES
REV THE ENGINE
ESCAPE
Moved into a LMOE shelter a ways south, nestled between a FEMA camp and an anthill so I have a abundant source of both tainted and regular meat now that I finally have the skills and equipment to cook up mutagen.
MONOCLE!!
I was dicking around with my ultra-OP cyborg char (Zoe Nakiya) and I thought “why not use a tank drone’s gun?” So I debugged in one and HEAT ammo.
Then a giant bee decided to all get up in my face and I point blank fired the Tank Drone Gun, There ain’t no kill like overkill

Your stats are a little higher than mine, but my skills are much higher than yours are. How many Granades was that? And how long have you survived?

I think it was 'bout 14 or more can’t remember exactly how many it was but there was a lot used, skills aren’t that high because skills seem to be no longer infinitely trainable in the period of time where I stopped playing cata and when I resumed with this char also I never tended to grind them to insane levels, probably started that char late feb this year, days survived over 3 in game years default settings.
Hm. I stopped at 10 Granades, but you still have 4 more strength than me. I don’t keep track of the others, they aren’t really that important beyond 20-30. I play with skill rust off and I have a car, so my mechanics is at 60 from all the repairing. My melee is pretty high too from my 30,000+ kills.
oh i love the insomniac trait! add some cough syrup (in abundance everywhere you go), get sleepy instantly without side effects and treat yourself to those 2 stat points for free =)
Poppy sleeping pills, my friend!
