Recently I’ve finished a rather large mobile home. It’s got a nice, large electric motor, at least a dozen solar panels of varying qualities, and all the amenities a home in the post-apocalypse would need. It’s also covered in spikes, which is nice.
Currently I’m working on a large hangar of sorts to store items in when my RV is full, act as a resting area for the batteries to refill, and in general be a safe haven. It’s essentially a very, very large vehicle with no wheels or motor. It has a very nicely furnished kitchen with several counters, an armory full of lockers, a farming area where in I’m growing all sorts of vegetables and wheat, a room just for crafting, and another room where in the fermentation vats sit.
I’m thinking of crafting some mounted charge rifles for perimeter defense, but honestly nothing seems attracted to the hangar yet. Since it rests pretty close to a river I’ll probably create an enclosed pathway to the river for a source of food and water, should a horde come by. You can wait those out, right?
Turns out that I was about 1/2 done instead of 1/3. Now that I’ve learned everything, the books will fuel my brazier. Also, I’m running low on food, so I’m going to make sausages.
Yeah, I’m only burning the copies. Also, the Solar Roller V is partially complete! I just need batteries, solar panels, cargo carriers, and the rest of my crafting stations.
The Solar Roller V is now mobile. All it needs to be complete is a ram, turrets, and loot.
On a similar note, does a Browning with .50 BMG explode things or just shoot them? And has the bug with turrets shooting their own vehicles been fixed?

Turrets won’t directly hit their own vehicles (or at least there’s safety-check code that’s supposed to prevent that, so if it happens, it’s a Bug and report, with savefile). Explosive turrets such as the flamer, NX17, and grenade launchers don’t generally account for their blast radius, so they’re more dangerous.
And the .50BMG does good damage. A quick trial indicates that it’s quite capable of gibbing zeds.
After smashing ovens to build a homemade welder, my motorcycle is now fortified with spiked and steel plating that I pillaged off a broken down armored truck, along with an extra car gas tank and the motocycle battery/alternator replaced with car versions. I added a frame to the rear and mounted a big trunk on it, then I divebombed to the nearest gas station that was swarming with zombies. I kited them around a bit, then looped back to the gas station where I had to kill several with bow/combat knife while filling up, and I didn’t have time to butcher their corpses so they started reanimating. I got hurt in the process pretty bad but I got my 33 gal barrel pretty full and into my trunk then I gunned it out of there and made it back to my LMOE shelter base. My fuel consumption 1 motocycle is now full, and I have 18k units of gas to spare. I’m out of ammo and down to 20 or so crappy arrows. I need to get some materials to make fletching after my morning hunt so I can make some heavy duty arrows and try to make a run on a gun store.
After my last character getting killed by a lucky headshot from an NPC. I downloaded one of today’s newest builds and noticed a new starting scenario. Stuck inside a lab. I give it a try. With a whopping 8 point starting bonus I fancy giving it a whirl. Make a nice character with decent all round stats, deft. I start the game in a room with some items on the counter. Checking every pile I can’t help but be amazed by the RNG good fortune.
A teleporter… with 20 charges!
I run to the nearest corner of the room to outside. Activate it and find myself a few metres outside from the console that opens the lab. Now I have a really nice state char, 19 uses left on the teleporter and FREEDOM. Definitely coming back with a lab card though when I find one.
Started a new game a few days back (in August), Bionic Prepper, Experimental scenario.
The map’s pretty nasty, found 2 spots that seem to be portals (krecks, blobs and whatnot), and can’t venture into the city due to nasty zeds on the outskirts (shocker, skeleton, tough and even a survivor).
Walked around the city at night and ventured into a house which looked promising as a future base (3 exits, lots of rooms). While boarding up windows I got dead tired so went to sleep. Woke up, saw the map, a cathedral right next to the house -
let’s get out of dodge now!
Had to kill a zombie cop and a fat zombie in melee because they broke through front windows which I haven’t had time to board up yet. The kicker? It’s day 3, my melee is 1, my dodging not yet 1, no armor items, throwing at 5 but archery not yet at 1 (shooting shafts out of a selfbow, yeah, sucks). Thank RNG I found a trench knife earlier or I’d be dead.
Water’s a problem too, because I can’t get it from toilets due to zeds and rivers are far away from the shelter.
Trying out the Experimentals and was looking for something to get a Roller Derby Girl to actually survive. I discovered the “start in a town” and “genetic experiment” options.
One Genetically Unstable and Robust Genetics later, my roller derby girl has survived two seasons.
The end result? At this point she looks something like this:
