Almost as derp as some of Zednought Alpha’s ideas.
Maybe the recipe could be “fletched wooden or metal arrow” + “Casing of choice” + “gunpowder and lead” and a wire and the press and die tool, where you’re building the bullet into the arrowhead instead of making a separate holder and a separate bullet, and making a more sensitive trigger. When you fire it, it impacts and causes a 1 tile shrapnel burst and a loud bang, and has a chance of leaving behind the fletched arrow and the casing at the site of the hit.
Ahem… I’d like to see all the guns. Like. As many as there can be. And by that I mean different mostly. Guns that behave too similarly, in game terms, don’t always interest me but it’s always more flavorful to be able to know that there’s tons of stuff I can find. Dunno why but it’s always made a game better to add more weapons, from firearms to handhelds. Also thinking maybe the rifle skill can be split into two since MG’s are also in the game, but hey…
Folding combat knifes. There are so many examples but the Al Mar Eagle Heavy Duty is a particular one that I lust after. Make it a piercing weapon that behaves like the tactical baton, when folded it would have maybe one volume and no damage, when unfolded it would have like maybe 1 bash 15 pierce?
There could be a couple of different grades, with maybe a buck knife being a little better than the regular pocket knife and go up from there. This would be an easy and fun addition.
what about toilet brush revolver?
XD
you shoot toilet brush cannon.
you hit the zombie for 14 damage.
The zombie is depressed at having been successfully attacked with a toilet wand.
The zombie falls apart.
More an ammo type, but makeshift 40MM flechette with nails. In fact, regular shotgun shells full of nails.
Also, modded vacutainers with the ability to fire high-pressure, high-temperature blood. A literal plasma gun
forget about firearms
why not use this
Now where do you mount the bayonet? o3o

I’ll just leave this here.
That sound~

Just a regular rifle with some junk plates slapped around. There is some real railgun and even plasma weapon prototypes around, but none of them is portable. Yet.
Knowing nothing about the current state of rail and plasma weapon technology I just vaguely accepted it, but felt that the plasma component was most likely irrelevant, if indeed it were plasma at all. But now that you mention it, that hole looks dodgy, one assumes that they drilled it in advance of the test and hid it behind pumpkins…
Having said that, do we have a magnetic vehicle-mounted weapon that can accept a stream of random ferrous junk and produce a spray of high-velocity projectiles?
You mean scrap metals? No idea what happens if you give metal scraps an “ammo” property. Probably nothing bad.

Might be a coilgun.
Plenty of portable versions of these around.
But that wouldn’t explain the flash. Hmm.
In other news:
"Laser shotgun"
… And someone made a laser gatling gun.
Which… is kind of stupid considering doing that completely buggers up the proper function of a laser i.e. keeping the beam focused on the target.
More practically, I wonder if we could make something like this craftable?
I’m new to the forums so I’m not sure if this has been mentioned yet but how about that craftable weapon from The Last of Us. The pipe with the scissors taped onto them. I’d think that’d be a good craftable weapon!
Personally I’d less gun stores all over the darn game world. I know of only 3 within several states between vermont/New Hampshire/Mass.
Pretty sure there are more, but in the obvious view of driving around there aren’t that many.
The one other viable option is Mega stores like Walmart carry some ammo(arrows for certain, not sure bout bullets). While big Sports store do carry all kinds of stuff. Gun stores= not many, while Sports stores = lotsa of stuff (both gun/bow related).
I never wanted any weapons in real life so I do not own any, but in a sports stores in the Tri-state area, it is difficult to miss an entire wall of arms while walking by the camping section.
Makes sense, yeah. Personally I wouldn’t mind if the store ratios could be variable, allowing for store rarities that mimic different regions.
I dig that too. But alas I can’t program if I had a gun pointed at me…you? Draggy. Anyone? =)
heck if it were a simple percentage change I"d be all over it. It is more likely (according to local police ratios/city hall records) to find a gun in a house. But normally a hunting based one. I know this because of local news papers do in fact print this information publicly. The police do this to remind folks to renew their licenses. Thus upping state funding via taxation. Pretty common knowledge actually. =D
Ah, interesting. There is the “default world settings” that could be played around with to adjust the weights of regular stores, but I don’t know if it works as intended. There used to be an option to set it to a desert-themed world setting (since the file controls terrain and plants too), but it was removed.
