WHat if you were able to scavenge a treadmill from a house or Gym and take it back to your base/solar powered deathmobile? You could Use it to train your stamina.
Or bring back a punching bag to train your melee and unarmed. you obviously couldn’t train a bladed/pierce weapon on it, but you might be able to train a bash weapon on it. i would imagine that just giving the heavy-bag like 100% bash resistance and -100% slash/pierce resistance might work?
My inspiration for this came from watching ‘I Legend’ and how Neville and his dog used a treadmill to be safer than running outside.
Are there other items that you could activate/use for an hour or so for a guaranteed skill or stamina boost?
Could use a wooden training dummy to train a bladed weapon. Or just use a non-edge-sharpened weapon, like a trainer knife or marker.
Considering we can spend days reading “knife-fighter’s notes” to get cutting level 4 I don’t see it as unreasonable to spend the same amount of time with a marker and a punching bag, from a game balance point of view, really.
Training activity could be good. Especially if each training tool had a limit on how high can it bring the skill. Punching a bag for 0->3 unarmed could work.
EDIT: But training stamina doesn’t sound good to me. The best way to train it IRL is running or swimming. Unless we want to switch from pretending to be realistic to game-like “you gain a potion of stamina (treadmill), you permanently raise your stamina level in a way you couldn’t otherwise”.
But gaining stamina levels from regular exercise would be really bad due to tedious repetition it would mandate.
Nothing inherently wrong with unrealistic leveling, but I’m not sure if everyone would agree to have it.
