Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

how do i get rid of fungal beds, fungal tree, etc. do they eventually disipate after you destroy the fungal tower?

I haven’t hung around a cleared fungal bloom long enough to see if it cleans up, but I find that a well thrown molotov will usually reduce the bloom’s area to ash, which I guess works, right?

Mollis on the beds, mollis/powerful guns/splosives on the trees etc. New fungal stuff will stop spawning once the spire goes down but everything else will still hang around unless its killed.

also, it seems that Animal Empathy works on fungals, as almost all fungal creatures i have encountered thus far except for fungal zombies and fungal ants. is it AE, or are they normally non hostile?

Fungal tend to be passive I think, unless you attack them you can pass through their site without incident.

Fungie creatures are normally non-hostile.

Until you start putting them on your pizza, then suddenly it’s as if you ate their kids or something.

If they’re not hostile… then what is the purpose in fighting them exactly?

They will constantly produce spores and more fungal creatures unless you kill off the entire fungal population in that area, and they’re pretty annoying to have around.

in earlier versions i’m pretty sure fungaloids and pretty much everything but the spores were hostile.

Non hostile doesnt mean not dangerous. Go play in the clouds of fungal spores and see how things turn out.

Any tips on base building?

At the moment I have a couple of options. There’s my original emergency shelter… or just to the north there’s a small military base that comes with a fence around it.

I’m not sure what the rules are about where various enemies can spawn.

I’ve never seen standard zombies near the shelter, but a zombie bear smashed through a window and came after me. For some reason everything I fired at it bounced off until I used a .45 Super round.

Anyway, I want to avoid that happening again.

Should I move into the bunker? Should I stay where I am?

Either way, what should I be trying to do regarding traps, additional walls, gates, pits etc?

For gates, because I’m a lazy bastard, I like to build a vehicle that’s the width of where you want the gate, and just use shutter doors; The caveat there is that you can’t drive through shutter door gates, but it’s a good deal more resource efficient to build them.

Something just occurred to me. Is it even possible to use power armour without a hauling frame?

I was thinking you could use it with a sword or something like that… but… if it has zero carrying capacity, then how do you carry the UPS to power it?

i like to build a palisade wall around the entrance to my LMOE shelter, then place several turrets around the perimeter. however, the first time i ever actually completed my palisade and placed the turrets i discovered a couple of things:

your turrets may accidentally shoot each other, so place a log wall or other view obstructing object between each turret.

your turrets will hit your vehicle if it’s in their line of fire, so either park it a good ways away or build a garage for it inside your palisade.

Huh. I never used power armor and never noticed that. I’ll call that a Bug since you’d expect the armor to have some provision for its power supply.

PR’d giving the basic suit 10 storage, should be exactly the amount needed to store a UPS.

Or try using CBM: Power Armor Interface. That works too.
