Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

It does, provided you can find and install the CBM. I don’t recall the armor being designed to run off of soldiers’ internal bionics, though, so opted to grant a UPS compartment. 10 storage isn’t that unbalancing an upgrade to folks with the aug.

The UPS compartment definitely sounds like something nobody would ever manufacture power armour without, so yes, that sounds like the best solution.

Speaking of power armour…

Is it possible to wear anything as well as the armour or helmet?

I mean, if you were using a hauling frame, can you use the volume to wear armour under your power armour?

Or if you’re wearing the helmet, can you use light amp goggles on top of it, or not?

If not, what about adding crafting recipes for adding functions to the helmet? You’d think advanced powered armour would come with functions like that anyway.

Maybe scavenging bits from the eye CBMs and installing them into the helmet eyepieces? Installing a rebreather into the helmet?

There are quite a lot of devices in game that it could be useful to do that with.

Two words.

Clothing mods.

We had this discussion way back, but I’m too lazy to find it.

I was thinking more along the lines of creating a new item as opposed to applying a mod to it though.

Anyway, just discovered something silly. Why is it that metal bolts and G3 incendiary rounds bounced right off a zombear, but a .45 Super round basically gibbed it?

.45 Super seems to kill just about anything ridiculously fast. I see why people said pistols were OP now…

Hey I have a question about the “radar”. Next to the map, you know where it says N NW S SW etc, and it’s meant to show in what direction an enemy is relative to you?

Why do I hardly ever see anything shown as being “in a direction”? Usually I just see enemy types listed below, in no particular direction.

If it’s not shown in the direction, it’s probably on your screen/playing area/what you see.

Often that isn’t the case. Maybe it’s due to using a tileset with big tiles?

Also, I just found a rather large problem. Is there a known bug involving 40mm grenade rounds?

I just tried firing my M203 for the first time and every time I try the game crashes to desktop.

There’s been a problem with underbarrel attachments that fire since forever.

Ugh, really?

Is there a solution to that problem? I’ve seen people talking about using underbarrel shotguns so you’d think there must be a way to make them work.

Also, how do I get a “none” out of my inventory? I got one stuck in there somehow… I can’t drop it. Should I be manually deleting it from the save file?

Update: Got the little bugger. It was in the save file but called “null”. Deleting it got rid of it from the inventory. I just hope it doesn’t mess anything up.

The underbarrel weapons CTD was an old issue that’s apparently cropped back up recently. We’ve got it in the issue tracker now so it will likely be squashed again soon.

As for getting rid of ‘none’ items, you can use the advanced inventory management screen to do that without having to mess with your save files.

Ahh, the one that pops up when you hit one of the numpad keys?

I’ve yet to work out how to use that…

Press / to bring it up, press right arrow to go to your inv panel, highlight it, press m, enter quantity if prompted.

Speaking of inventories, I just managed to do something silly.

I was looting spare armour vests and it kept asking me if I wanted to put them on.

I ended up putting on about 10 MBR vests and having a huge number of torso layers.

Are we really meant to be able to do that?

I wonder if anything could even hurt me through all that.

You’ll probably end up crumpling up from all the weight at some point.

I have made it to the first day of summer. I’m starting to wonder if violently teleporting randomly is detrimental to my health… I had to use my royal jelly to cure myself from a fungal parasite caused by teleportation sickness. Is the +4 dexterity given to me by my artifact worth it? I already have 8 dodge, after all. But I don’t want to just leave it behind.

+4 DX isn’t worth teleporting into a wall, dying of complications from fungal parasites, or any other result of teleglow. I’d ditch the artifact.

Yeah, seems to be the best course of action. I can melee bears without any consequences, after all…

There isn’t much worth risking teleglow except one thing I can think of…

Winning the staring contest with the flaming eye.

Just drag a shopping cart around with the artifact in it, then grab it if you really need it. Although if you don’t need the extra DX it’s probably best to look for a regular teleporter.

Speaking of teleporters… is it just me, or isn’t it blindingly obvious that we should recode them to be able to teleport you out of a hole?

There needs to be an alternative for characters with crap throwing skill / who can’t carry rope around all the time.

If they worked across z-levels, though, you’d be teleporting back and forth between the sewers and the road all the time. Plus it makes bunkers trivially easy to loot.

I was thinking more in terms of a specific “teleport out of hole” function like the rope can do.
