Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

In a sandbox game, the more ways to do one specific task, the better. In Cataclysm case, living in the wild (aka no city) should be possible too, that’s one of the reasons we have things like bone needle, rag apparels and makeshift weapons/tools.

What is the proper way to harvest alarm-rigged buildings for maximum robotic loot?

Should I break all the windows and doors or crowbar my way in? should I do the alarm-rigged parts one by one or all at once for best chance of spawning tasty robots?

An alarm will spawn an eyebot, a camera drone that takes pictures of you if you get too close. When that happens, a Secubot is summoned and appears on screen. If you can reliably kill them you can harvest them for a while, but after a few they stop dropping anything useful, at which point you can just kill the eyebot.

Also I think that if you return to the same spot some hours afterwards you have chances to meet advanced robots. Take care, those war of the worlds tripod robots are dangerous.

where can i find seeds? more specifically, vegetables, such as corn, brocoli, etc.

EDIT: i know, the obvious answer is “on a farm” but i’ve searched all over a farm and haven’t found any.

also, can i destroy a slime pit with a nuclear missile?

Slime pits cant be destroyed IIRC, unlike stuff like triffid groves and ant nests there is no ‘queen spawner’ to kill

I think you’re pretty much stuck with finding them on farms. There could be spawns in a grocery store or house. Harvesting blueberry bushes and the like will yield seeds as well.

Ive definitely found seeds in houses and grocery stores as well as on farms.

Anybody know if there is any use for cordless drills?

Not any one that I know of, perhaps they can be applied to doors to open them?

At the least parts.
I think you can also build with them.

IIRC cordless drills are utterly useless. But I play stable so I might be wrong.

You couldnt disassemble them last time I checked, they suck as a melee wep, are not used in any crafting and you cant get the batteries out.

Nobody got any ideas?

Plastic chunks. Apply the knife to it.

If I put more than one container in a tile with a funnel, what is the rate at which they will fill up, if possible beyond the first container?

As far as I am concerned, they will glitch and you won’t collect any water at all. It could be already fixed though.

Good to know, thanks!

I think that it will maintain the same rate as it fills each additional container one at a time (or at least that’s what it’s supposed to do). That said it’s fully possible that it’s bugged at the moment.

How fast will a plastic bottle fill in a drizzle?
