Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

the informant spawns when you accept the mission

Can you not use Niten with the budget versions of the appropriate weapons?

Can you build an alternator on an electric engine? I don’t seem to have the option to install it. Am at mechanic level 4. Am I missing something or is it possibly the Vehicle Additions Pack mod bugging things out?

Oh I guess you can’t digging through a few older discussions. It is kind of bizarre though. I found this electric van with an alternator installed originally before I accidentally rammed a bush and broke it off.

It wouldn’t make any sense. An alternators purpose is to use the kinetic energy from the belt and turn it into battery power to run electronics. An alternator on an electric engine would just be a waste of energy to get the same thing…but less of it. Namely power.

Yeah, there’s no reason to do this, as electric power is what powers the motor to begin with…

but I think, if you SMASHED the gasoline/diesel engine off on a square that had an alternator, you might be able to put an electric engine back in it’s place… but it might just drop the alternator to the ground, instead (when the engine is destroyed). You should try it… FOR !!SCIENCE!! !

Does anyone know how to generate really big cities with all those new types of buildings?

It seems , settings city size too big will make generating certain places impossible. A size of 8 seems OK, but increasing it to 16 will cause problems.

Spacing is important too. Labs and Cabins and such have a mandatory minimum distance from cities or they won’t spawn, so the problem is not city size, but the distance cities crowd everything else into super rarity. So you can make the cities as big as you want as long as the distance increases enough to compensate for there to still be sufficient woodlands.

Yea with a size of 16 and a distance of like 12 things should be okay. its just, you know, good luck finding new cities in all that nothing.

Speaking of playing with low item spawn rate and filthy clothes on:

You can get all kinds of clean materials (except maybe kevlar) from furniture and vehicles.
Rags come from beds, sofas and curtains.
Leather comes from car seats.
Plastic comes from consoles, car batteries or from rubber tubes from refrigerators.
Etc, etc.
Power substation can give you all kinds of electronic components and even steel frames if you disassemble objects there.

Adding to that, kevlar dog harnesses are a source of clean kevlar.

So that’s not considered to be a bug, but is intended? Huh.

its a bug caused by the dog harness not actually being clothing

I want to fix up some car wreckage, the more ridiculous it looks the better.

I have q question: Is it possible to make new wreckage?

Really depends on what exactly you mean by that.

It’s possible. Just have the materials to replaced the gray parts. If the wreck lacks some parts, like no wheels or vehicle controls, then you have to add those in.

What’s the best way to find books in 0.01 item spawn world?
I figured zombie scientists have a VERY good book-related drop table, but what else?
Is there any way to see what book is in what Z’s drop table?

In participial terms: once you have heavy survival gear, repair nanobots and electric immunity CBM, would it be faster to just go into the center of a large city and kill everything that comes at you and check the loot for books?

Just hope that RNG works out on item drops on location. From killing close to 70k zombies so far, I’ve found that they don’t drop that much books. Barely any, and for most part it’s usually low-tier ones most of the time.

Well, that’s weird.
Cop and Fireman Z’s drop first aid books up to level 6 quite often, normal Z’s drop some up to mid-level fabrication/cooking/social/etc books all the time.
I mean, I’d say about 80%+ of my books are Z-s drops (including stuff from scientists), the only book of notice I found as a normal spawn (in this game) was “mechanical mastery”.

P.S. That being said, is there any better place to look for books than just random libraries/bookshops (excluding labs)?

Best places for books are libraries, bookshops, schools, and mansions (the big library rooms in mansions are amazing).

Labs are the only place to get certain books, but other than those, they really aren’t that good.
