So… if I want to make a vehicle that I can see out of that enemies cannot get into, I should do what?
Put in windows on tiles with steel plating but no “board”? And make sure that the welding rig isn’t near the windows?
You can move over frames
boards and opaque doors block LOS and movement
If you want to make sure you can see through a tile but don’t want stuff to get through, use doors. They’re much tougher than windows, but can still be destroyed. you can see through them and they can be opened when needed. I’d suggest using boards across the rear of your vehicle (don’t forget the diagonal tiles) to block access.

But then what was preventing me seeing out the back of my RV?
There’s a welding rig in the middle but there were windows on each side of it. I THINK I took out the boards to see whether it made any difference to visibility. And it didn’t. Maybe I’m remembering incorrectly…
Unless…
Are the kitchen unit and bed blocking the view? I don’t know if they count as “solid” when it comes to seeing through them. But I seem to be able to see the back wall and the windows, so I assume not.

Think you can post a screenie of your vehicle? Pretty sure beds don’t block LOS, but kitchen units might. I’ve not used them enough at this point.
That said, if you’ve kept the same general design as the standard RV there’s boards separating the living quarters and the drivers cabin.

I can see through the front windscreen but not through the rear windows from inside or outside.
I can also see from the driver cabin into the rear… but I don’t think it’s through the windows I put in. I think it’s through the door.
Hm, ok. So I could take out all the content apart from the frame, then put in Windows with no board? Worth a try. I just don’t know how much more fragile a window is against enemy attack.
Are vehicles really that important? I have never taken the time to fix one up because I suck at driving them. I also do not even know how to add stuff or fix things on a vehicle.
Important-ish. But it depends on how you want to play the game.
Vehicles, though, have their share of advantages. They enhance your survaivavility in three key ways: faster travel (so your looting area increases dramatically, not to mention they’re a good way to escape fungal areas, etc), protection (they can act as your little mobile home, where you can sleep protected from both enemies and the environment) and offense (run over anything that moves, chances are you’ll kill them instantly).
The disadvantages are quite few IMO: you have to feed them (but gas stations are plenty, and you can always grab containers for reserve fuel), excessive damage can make your vehicle inoperative (be it because you don’t have enough mechanics skill or your welder ran out of batteries). They can also kill you if colliding or when having either the engine or gas tanks in very bad shape (they tend to go boom).
You can get familiar with vehicles and some key concepts in their wiki page.
I know this probably has been answered a lot, BUT, how do I find lead, gunpowder and primers? I’m seeing something about disassembling bullets, but it doesn’t give me the option.
Like Ninja already said: Kinectic Bullet Puller is needed.
I recommend focusing on just one cartirige per ammo type.
Example: If you want to use a 9mm gun, disassemble all other pistol cartridges(.38, .45 etc.) and make 9mm out of it.
Same goes for rifle cartridges and shotgun ammo. This way you only need to carry one pistol/smg and one rifle.
Well, except you are a weapon lunatic like me that hoards enough weapons to supply 3 armies.

Where’s a good place to locate one of these things? Where have people been finding them?
The last RV I found was next to a gas station deep in a city, it was a pain and a half to get the thing out of there though. Generally you just have to find a good sized city and have a look around, they’re pretty rare.
I have a question concerning the
+weak block
tag that some weapons have
I recently crafted a razorbar katar which does decent damge and has said “+weak block” tag. During fights, I often block lots of attacks when wiedling that weapon but when I use a crude sword or a 2by sword I never block despite all of them having “weak block” in their description?
I don’t understand how likely it is to block because I don’t know what affects the success chance. Melee skill, size of the weapon? I am really confused.
EDIT: By the sound of it the speed of your equipped weapon might be influencing how frequently you’re able to check again for a block, but afaik that wasn’t how it worked. Maybe I’m wrong and that’s how it is? To the best of my knowledge it just checks whenever you’re attacked and doesn’t matter what you’re holding as far as how frequently you can defend yourself.
Not quite a noob question, but certainly a little one.
What’s with the katana’s volume? 16? The broadsword has 7. Awl pike 14. Zweihander 20.
16 seems a bit high.
Here’s a nub question:
How do you set the orientation of headlights? It doesn’t exactly acknowledge any commands or display any feedback, but the lights do install. Just…in random directions…
Also,

Why not build something custom-like? Default vehicles have dreadful viewing circles &/or horrible zombie draft problems.
