Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

I see, thanks, i’ll try the debug menu…

So I was reading the wiki and found out that there are a lot more robots than the usual eyebots hazmabots and copbots, anyone knows where to find them?

It looks like most of them don’t seem to spawn outside defense mode right now. I guess that’s a thing we’ll need to remedy.

What’s the meaning of the different colors of tools/materials in the crafting menu, specifically yellow and brown? It happens for things I have available and it lets me craft as usual, but what’s the difference to the regular green?

I think brown means you have a tool that also acts as a material- like a rock in a crafting recipe. Not 100% sure though.

Afaik brown means you have the specific material/tool but not everything you need to successfully craft the item yet.

This one for brown. IIRC yellow means that you have the tools required, but not enough charges of them (or the item required but not enough of it).

Thanks. That sounds like I logically shouldn’t actually be able to craft as long as one item is just yellow/brown. I seem to remember still being able to do so when I tried.
That was in the stable release from the wiki, though, before I realized how awesome Cataclysm is and started pulling the nightly build myself.
So if that was a bug, I’m not even sure it’s still there. Will keep my eyes open.
It does seem to be a bit of a gap in the skill books - a Gray’s Anatomy and/or Surgical Textbook to take First Aid up through higher levels seems like a reasonably likely find in a library, doctor’s office or hospital.

Otherwise it’s not an easy skill to level in the current build, unless I’m missing a method.
I train my first aid by repeatedly injuring myself on environmental dangers such as bear traps, deep pits, broken windows, etc.
It takes a while and you need to be in a fairly secure area to do it, otherwise it’s nearly certain that a wandering Bear or NPC will run up and murder you right at the worst possible time.

I highly suggest having a significant number of bandages before trying this.

Okay real quick question before I do this I would like to repair the terminals around the lab to release “things” and read about the history as well as open the doors what do I need?

I have a soldering iron and I have processors, RAM, and various other electronic parts.

Broken terminals are either:

 1. Broken because you destroyed them.
 2. Broken because they are intended to be broken.

Regardless of the reason, neither one can be repaired.

So explosives is my only option.

Or jackhammer or sonic resonator CBM.

Or lug enough parts to make a basic vehicle ram into the lab.

I seem to be having an odd problem with a vehicle of mine. I found a driveable car in town and claimed it, learned how to drive after running over hundreds of squirrels, etc. etc. Anyway later on, my character died. When I rediscovered the car, it no longer allows me to drive it. I go to move into the driver seat and it gives me a message in red text saying something about the passenger already being in the seat or something to that effect. Nothing is damaged or otherwise wrong with it. What a shame, I wanted to be a VW bug-driving road warrior

Dapper, that sounds like a clone bug. check the driver seat, you’ll probably find your old corpse in it. pick it up, drag it outside and butcher it.
Messy, I know but that might fix it.

[edit] If it doesn’t, you can always grab a wrench and hacksaw and take it apart and rebuild a better vehicle

Uh, I do not know if this has been said already but I clear towns by luring Zs in a house and then burn it down. It seems to work well for me.

The fix, call the Ghostbusters to get rid of that dead passenger for you.

This one’s been fixed in the dev version.

Won’t work. Rivet’s unlicensed nuclear accelerators got rejected for mainline. :frowning:
