Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Every time I try to pick up a box or plastic bag of something it gives me an option to drop my weapon and hold it or spill spill out the contents. How do I just pick up the whole thing.

Inventory management seems to take the box or bag and leave the food behind.

I heard something about that problem recently. Think it might be a mistaken side effect of a PR. Or maybe intended with unexpected drawbacks.

powered thermal outfit (UPS can be nice for that, especially if you the UPS bionic). Two of those can help a LOT for not much encumbrance.

Wool stuff is very warm, of course. Army winter stuff is also good, and there’s one REALLY warm coat that’s also very high encumbrance.

The Jedi Cloak is 50 warmth all over for very little encumbrance. Seriously, it’s amazing. 2 of those go a LONG way.

The Internal Climate Control CBM helps noticeable.

Honestly, though, the REALLY cold labs are so much of a pain that I often just skip them - dive just deep enough to find a terminal and map the area, then go to some other lab that the mapping revealed and hope it’s not one of those crazy-cold labs.

you can just race to bottom and quickly go up, you just need some ranged weapons and 2 sleeping bags and 2 jedi cloaks and wear them

How do filter masks work? I can find a tag for their filtration abilities?

They give you environmental protection on mouth. That’s it.

get your hidden health stat up. Eat healthy foods and vitamins roughly twice a day or a little less often (~every 18 hours) It should help keep you from getting, and help get rid of health issues.

The way it works:

The hidden health stat the current healthiness try to balance out by randomly one moving closer to the other, but the hidden health stat that doesn’t actively effect anything defaults to 0. When doing unhealthy (-) or healthy (+) things they effect your hidden stat which in turn effects your current healthiness.

Other things that can negatively effect your health if you don’t counter them with vitamins/healthy food are:
Mutagens, radiation, addictions, junk food, and drugs (the illegal variants)

Healthy things:
Healthy food, meat, veggies etc… vitamins, influinza shots, and other shots of a non-illicit substance types

Basically if its normally healthy/unhealthy to do in real life its healthy/unhealthy in CDDA too.

what about installing CBM’s?

If they install faulty, yes. Though I don’t think always so. IIRC its leaky bionic, and malfunctioning bionic or something like that (which leaks hazardous toxins into your bloodstream or something) Otherwise I believe they are all neutral to the health stat minus the filtration ones and stuff that help negate the effects of harmful toxins and such (alcohol, drugs, and the like at the cost of decreased effect iirc [though sometimes this is actually a double plus depending on your purpose.])

When you set an item list to spawn over a given area, does the game spawn 1 item per ‘repeat’ or does it occassionally spawn multiple items?

If you have >1.0 item spawn rate, it will often spawn more than one item.
I think there was a recently added option to have it work as one spawn (that is, one spawn times item spawn rate) per repeat area, but I don’t know where to look for examples of it being used.
