Make all the jerky.
ALL OF IT.

Would rotten jerky be an oxymoron?
In real life, no. In Cataclysm? Hell yeah.
What are the compatibility specs of the game? x32 bit? x64? in what OS it can run? Maybe the ram requirements if possible…
… I am not sure I understand the question. If it helps I am running it via wineskin on a macbook air. Without any problems. Unless you are running an ee or something I doubt problems will arise with capabilities. worst that will likely happen is longer turns when a lot is going on.
We have salt water sources!?
Water tiles in Swamps yield Salt Water.
Thing is I can’t seem to run it on a windows 7 computer but I have no idea of its capabilities other than that.
I have another question, a thing I wondered how to do optimally for quite a while now:
What’s an easy way to store food (mainly meat) without it going bad?
It’s summer. I haven’t made a stockpile of food or anything similar before it arrived, I go hunting almost daily to sustain myself for the day and to keep myself going till the next one. Not the best way to do things, but that’s what I’ve got at the moment. Anyway, today I hunted bear, and have a bunch of meat I REALLY don’t want to rot. I looked into dehydrating it, but this seems like a really good way to waste it (chance of not succeeding and destroying it + requires 2 chunks of meat for each unit + requires clean water to rehydrate + 30 nutrition for 2 chunks VS. 50 nutrition for one).
I do NOT have glass jars to store food in. I used a fridge from a nearby house till now but it just seems to slow the process of rotting for like, 1-2 days? Not really enough. What can I do to save the meat for later without eating it all?
Depending on cooking skill level, you can dehydrate it (requires a dehydrator or a smoker), make jerky (needs salt and fire), make aspic (need bones and fire), or smoke it (need smoker and skewers).
You can also make seal it in a jar and possibly pickle it, but I never bother with those.
Jerky is the easiest, generally, if you can find a swamp. Smoking it is best, nutritionally speaking - it’s also the fastest, since it does three pieces each time.
Does jarring it or pickling it prevent it from rioting or just extend its life?
If your food is rioting, clearly you need to chew it first. o3o
But yeah, sealed jars work by being tools that you use to unseal, so until opened they don’t spoil at all.
Hi there,
I was driving in my RV with my npc friend sleeping on the bed tile when the back of my RV hit a railing during a turn. Apparently that was enough to send my buddy flying to her death. Now I have -500 morale penalty and I just wanna know how long it will last. I’ve been doing the mp3, vibrator, soda, alcohol combo but that doesn’t seem to be enough. Any tips?
—_— that… post gave me more heresy.
Yesss, become one with the heresy.
And yeah, I’d have to source dive to figure out how morale cooldown works, but all that drinking, music’ing, and fapping will only counteract the morale, it won’t remove it. >_>
Yes, but you need a jar for EACH piece of meat, and to eat it, you first have to use the jar, then eat the meat, so it’s annoying.
You can also make sealed jars of ___, several of which also use meat, but you’d have to have the different ingredients for those as well, and they suffer from all the same problems with jarring stuff.
From what I can tell, aspic is the easiest to get the ingredients for (most things that give you meat also give you bones), jerky is what most people do a WHOLE lot of, and, if you have the time/skills to make a smoker and charcoal, smoked meat is the best (well, several forms of preserved meat can be used to make pemmican, and THAT is generally considered the best, but you need lard or tallow, which can be pretty limiting).
Be lucky you don’t need a can opener to open standard tin cans.
Yet.

Prozac does wonders for long term negative morale.
Hm, I suspected as much. However, what’s the difference between a sealed jar of meat and a sealed jar of pickeled meat? I always assumed the pickeled version would somehow extend shelf life, but as both version don’t rot…
So, jars of canned meat versus jars of pickled meat? Aside from presumably different craftinfg requires, it seems the only difference between the sealed jars is that pickled meat weighs slightly more and costs 50 cents less. The meat itself however, once opened?
Pickled meat does not spoil once you unseal the jar, whereas canned meat will.
Is hardtack the most efficient food by far or is it just me? It seems like it’s got around the same nutrition as pemmican for one quarter the weight and two less volume.
