So… what might “robot controls” be for? I found some on an automated street cleaner and it seems I can install them on vehicles, but I have no idea what they do.
Nothing, I don’t think, vehicles (thankfully) don’t drive themselves around so mostly it’s just a thing to tell you why the street cleaner is a vehicle but you can’t use it.
Hmm.
Still, I shall install them on my atomic tank.
FOR SCIENCE!
They are for Vehicle Remote Controllers. You can remotely control a vehicle that has robot controls I think. Pretty sure I could control the street cleaner robots from my Vehicle Controller CBM.
Wait, does that mean you could theoretically ride around in one vehicle while controlling another vehicle? I mean, not driving both at once but…

Mind = Blown
Drive by wire controls allow you to control them manually and by remote, but robot controls are remote only. Just checked.
SWEET! Can’t wait to use those!
As in they stop a vehicle being driven normally if you install one anywhere on it?

The robot controls will prevent normal driving, yes. Drive by wire will not.
Is mass of a vehicle vital, and what does it even do?
I could be wrong here but I believe it:
-
Affects what gets destroyed when the vehicle hits things. A huge heavy vehicle demolishes buildings.
-
Higher mass means you need more engine power to accelerate, and also I… think you can overstress an engine and have it blow up on you.
And of course you can’t pull a gigantic tank like you can a bike using “grab”.
There’s also the most visible effect, it lowers your maximum safe speed.
Also that, but safe speed is for wimps anyway.
Does anyone have an answer for my question?
You hit the item cap (that i think it is 4096),
if you remove stuff and stick in items like 55gallon drums you get to a higher volume… >.>
Items like scrap metal n rags don’t ‘stack’ sadly
Thank you for the answer
Make scrap metal into chunks of steel. (optional - can go directly to step 2)
Make chunks of metal into lump of steel.
Make lumps of metal into hard plating.
Congrats, you’ve turned 288 items (volume 288) into 1 item (volume 12). It’s easily the best way to carry metal that I have found.
I don’t know of a really good way to do that with rags, but a long patchwork scarf is 12 rags and only volume 4, so that’s something… anybody know of a better one that doesn’t take FOREVER to craft/disasseble?
Haven’t bothered trying with leather, and I don’t think you can really do that with Kevlar (closest thing is to not cut up or dissemble kevlar items you are keeping for scrap - the dog harness, for instance, is only volume 9 and cuts up to 18 kevlar).
Newb question: will “burnt zombie corpse” revive? Is it enough that it’s burnt, or do I need to pulp it?
You’ve gotta smash it. Merely being burnt won’t stop reanimation, they either need to be ash or pulped.
Thanks! What if it’s trapped under rubble when it reanimates?
I got a series of “a zombie near you has reanimated” followed immediately by “a zombie has died” messages, and I wondered if it had something to do with burnt corpses under rubble reanimating and then being crushed again.
