Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Ah, interesting. Chezzo might’ve messed with the windows on that, unsure.

And so far, the main addition was another mapgen addition, so another boss monster and corresponding unique magic item. Also made the curious structure have an added chance of spawning some of the metal used to craft Cleansing Flame gear, in addition to item spawn buffs there.

As for the various books, mansions might be a good bet. X3

Another boss monster? I wasn’t even aware of the existing ones…

Oh, by the way… Regarding thunder gauntlets and tasers. What do they actually affect?

I was thinking they wouldn’t work on zombies but I think a taser just saved my arse by stunning a zombie hulk while I emptied an assault rifle and pistol into his face.

The problem with tazers, the stun baton, and thunder gauntlets is that they only work on monsters in melee range. So basically they’re more like stun guns. ;w;

And…yeah. If you look out in the woods and see, on your map screen, a dark grey “C” or a “T” using the black-on-green color cabins use…

If I see such a thing I shall take Mr Tank over to say hello. With a gift basket of 120mm shells and Browning M2 turret. I suppose I need to go travelling before whatever the new version is shows up though.

As for the taser, yeah that was to be expected. Oddly enough I managed to poke the hulk with it in melee and he wasn’t punching me across the map as they tend to.

I wonder though, could we make a craftable “air taser” like the actual taser guns?

Taser shotgun cartridges exist. And there’s always the option of something similar to the coilgun only featuring wires that shoot out.

The lightning flag for real ranged wepaons might work, but unsure how to implement reloading of a tazer. Taser shotshells would be interesting though. X3

And from what I can tell, you would need to venture out before encountering the new grove, but the curious structure’s been around for a bit longer.

I just encountered something very odd.

I tried installing a “steel ram” on my tank. I installed it dead centre on the front. On the vehicle installation screen it’s dead centre.

When I get out and walk around the tank, it’s off-set to one side. Not just visually. It complains when I walk through it and it’s definitely not central.

The rest of the tank seems to be lined up right…

Also I’m not sure it actually has a graphic to speak of. Seems to be a white X. Is this a new vehicle part perhaps?

Huh, that’s odd. Snag a screenshot, maybe? o.o

Disregard that, I moved the tank around a bit and now it’s normal. It seems that somehow the tank was wonky enough for only ONE SINGLE TILE to be off centre.

… In other news my camera system is now not seeing all around the tank. I put kitchen units on the sides but I would have thought it could still see to the rear… Hmm.

ARGH. What the hell did I do? The camera controls are there, three of the cameras are intact. But when I activate the system the cameras don’t see anything for me. It worked before I switched to the new experimental, but I hadn’t tried it out in a while.

Edit: AHA. I removed the broken camera. And then activated the system again and now it works fine.

Seems a little bit harsh, that. If you get one broken camera they ALL stop working.

In other news… I can craft turrets… but in order to do so I need fire control systems. Which aren’t in my crafting menu. How do I craft those? I need another book?

That’s weird, didn’t think a broken cam would prevent ALL cameras from working. I smell a bug.

Let me grab the recipes to check…

EDIT: Fire control system. Autolearned, needs 5 electronics and 5 computers.

Oh, computer skill, I knew there was a reason not learning that would come back to bite me in the arse.

I was wondering if there was an easier way on getting piles of straw instead of just foraging a billion underbrushes.

My soon-to-be straw bed awaits me.

Is it possible to hide NPC marks from map?

… Can someone please link me to the sound/ambient “music” mod? I had it on my last install but I have forgotten how to find it again.

Well, the most obvious way would be to farm for them. Wheat, barley and a few other crops produce stacks of piles of straw instead of withered plants when harvested. But it takes a really long time to grow the plants, so it would be easier to just snoop around in the barns of farms. They have a lot of hay laying around in one of the corners.

Thanks for the reply. At least now I have some alternatives on acquiring straw.

Ok, found the sounds pack.

Is it not being continually updated then?

Hmm. Anyone know how all mouse controls is supposed to work?

I’m used to doing Cataclysm all via keyboard, but been trying to pester a friend to try it who usually uses a laptop with broken arrow keys, and an obvious lack of a numpad. ._.

Give them a $5 USB keyboard to plug in? Or a control pad? One of those is easily mapped to keyboard keys. Although… well, the entire keyboard would be tricky. Still, works for arrow key replacement.

Could work. Though also suggested rebinding the WASD and others to use. <.<

I’m trying to do an RP of a guy who wants to be respectful toward the dead and bury them, but I was trying to test burying an NPC corpse by putting him in a deep pit and filling it in, and it didn’t work. I could have sworn that a few months ago I remember people talking about burying their dead companions. Is it possible and if so how do you do it?
