Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

If you want a storage battery, try a gas station. They have the battery and the case next to the door sometimes.

You can also craft small storage batteries at electronics 3/fabrication 1, it might need a recipe though. They’re also in rechargable battery mods, welding carts, ice cream carts and food vendor carts, in case you’ve run across any of those.

Suggest a non-warm and light legwear, pants, that provide decent environmental protection. Pants only, not suits. I’m tired of constant acid damage and turnout boots alone aren’t enough.
Edit: Never mind, chose turnout trousers. They weren’t quite as bad as I remembered. Finally some acid resistance!

I dunno what size they are, but I find swap-able storage battteries on solar cars a lot.

You can create a small storage battery with 3 electronics and 1 fabriaction if you have the books What’s a Transistor?, Ham Radio Illustrated, or Under the Hood. None of the parts are hard to get either.

I have two little questions !
First, today I tried the Repair Nanobots CBM, but I could not see any effect ! I was not bleeding but my legs were severely injured (thank you, corrosive zombie). Is this normal ?
Another question: is it possible that gunshots have deafened me for like two or three days now ? It comes with a pain effect and I tried all the drugs I had with no success.
Thanks a lot !

Did they seem to have any sign of damage healed? From what I can tell, it’s possibly minor:

From source code, bionics.cpp:

    } else if (bio.id == "bio_nanobots") {
        remove_effect("bleed");
        healall(4);

As for hearing damage, it can last for days.

Ok, thanks a lot.
I guess a heal of 4 is very minor and can easily be missed. (then isn’t repair nanobots a bit underpowered for 125 bionic power ?)
As for hearing, I can’t wait to hear some music again ! I’ll be patient.

You can spam repair nanobots to the point where you go back to full health. Main drawback is the cost for using it multiple times, and if I remember correctly since I avoid using it for a challenge, that it doesn’t get rid of pain.

Oh. Then I need more bionic power.

When you have 20k+ power, no, it’s not.

However, the real advantage of repair bots isn’t the HP, it’s the insta-bleeding-fix. Seriously, in the middle of combat, BAM, no more bleeding. It’s VERY VERY VERY nice.

But yeah, watch out for the pain - it doesn’t fix that.

The pain from loud noises is simulated as presumed headache and tinnitus, AFAIK. Keep popping aspirin. The pain is mild but longterm and recurring. Protect your hearing. There’s a CBM that eliminates all loud noises while retaining normal hearing. CDDA definitely needs normal noise-cancelling hearing protection items, while allowing normal hearing, which btw exist…

To me the Repair Nanobots CBM is bit random. Sometimes it seems to heal a decent amount of damage. Sometimes barely nothing. I’m guessing if you have Flimsy or similar traits, and I always do, it’ll appear like they heal more damage, and if you have Tough or better, the healing seems minimal, especially if you don’t have Awareness to tell the exact hit points of body parts.

Any set ups can can get you through ice labs? I have Internal Climate Control, RM13 combat armor + wool socks, long underwear top/bottom, balaclava.
I guess I will have to get a fur cloack, and some more layers.

You will never have enough cloaks. ;_;

Thermal electric outfit to replace/stack with the long underwear, socks, balaclava.

Jedi cloak also seems pretty awesome - 50 warmth over everything, outer layer.

a way to more easly sift through a mansion library is to read all of the books to where they turn grey… then you can more easly find new books later on… and if you have enough storage just hoard a copy of every book in the game

Even just reading them all once to change them from unread red (huehuehue) is a smart idea.

also being able to stay out of wander spawn range is really good… because dem hoards are lethal early on

Low tailoring? You can put a winter survival suit on if you need too at the bottom level. Depends how many levels there are. At the 4th level the Internal climate control, thermal + jed cloak and some other random clothes isn’t actually enough sometimes. (I didn’t have any thermal for my chest/arms). I just swapped @ that level normal survival for the winter suit and it worked fine.

Or you could light yourself on fire. XP
