Dunno, but in truth they are slightly quieter since they rotate at lower rpms than their gasoline equivalents.

Actually, they work differently than gasoline engines and usually have higher noise. And they rotate at almost the same rpms too.
I see. Either way it seems to mean that modding in an engine big enough to power a tank results in 200+ noise and deafness as soon as you start accelerating.
Guess I’m making an atomic tank instead.
What does the bulletin board’s set up camp do?
That’s something I really should test.
That’s probably because currently engines always accelerate at full force required for given speed and because noise scales not just with used power, but also base power.
Huehuehue. However, I might have to take this kinda light atomic tank and scale it up enough that I can completely enclose a 30-cylinder engine in boards, that might muffle the noise.
EDIT: Hmm. Anyone know what would make an engine inaudible from inside?
So, I downloaded the latest experimental last night, and I found an atomic nightlight (yay!), but when I carry it, it ruins my night vision. (I dislike this lighting overhaul in general, but that’s a different topic.)
Is there any way to carry an atomic nightlight with me, say, closed up in my pocket/backpack or something so I’m not changing the lighting around me unless I want to? Because if there’s not, atomic lighting just became nearly useless for large chunks of the game.
Is using clothing taken from dead zombies a viable way to sustain fires?
Most of them are deliciously flammable, but if you’re wanting a longer-lasting fire, two-by-fours or even logs might be your best best. I think having it in a fireplace or stove might also make it last longer.
What’s the best martial arts style to pair with high intelligence? (I vaguely recall someone mentioning there’s one that scales off Int…) I plan on playing a badass bookworm type this time around instead of the usual brute force bruiser and I’d like something that meshes well with that right out the gate.
I think crane and dragon use intelligence for some buffs, but they’re not good styles. You’re better off with a good generic style like boxing or ninjutsu.
Krav maga? o3o
My current Übermensch Alpha/Elf-A Survivor has already experienced the euphoria of punching Hulks to death with a combination of Krav Maga and 40 Strength (15 Base, 18 Alpha, +2 Muscle Augmentation, +20 Hydraulic Muscles). I’m just looking for something a little different now.
Edit: What about Muay Thai or Zui Quan?
True. Dragon is still possibly the best fit for actually USING intellect. Fencing is both fairly potent and a good flavor style, but doesn’t get the same synergy with intellect.
From it’s description, muay thai gets a damage increase from strength. Scorpion kung-fu increases crit damage, so with high strength you could be kicking hulks away to death.

While it may be true that diesels make more noise (for same horsepower) because they work differently (i didn’t think that self-combustion would be more noisy, but a quick google check seems to verify this), ALL diesels rotate in lower speeds than their gasoline equivalents. Sometimes much much lower.
Taken from my textbook on internal combustion engines:
110rpm for 2-stroke, 340PS/cylinder (naval engine - total power not available)
520rpm for 4-stroke, 650PS/cylinder (total power not available)
1000rpm for 4-stroke, 4000PS total (16cylinder train engine)
2000rpm for 4-stroke, 192PS total (6cylinder car engine)
Lower rpm’s are needed (though not desirable, as more rpm=more power) exactly because the diesels work differently than otto engines.
Compare with Otto (gasoline) engines nominally working at 4000-5000rpm or more.

None implemented yet afaik (but you could put it inside your trusty cart/car from where it should be giving no light until you take it out)
have you ever driven a car? in practice, not in theory, people rarely drive gasoline cars at more than 3k rpm, because it makes a hell of a lot more noise. When you get to 2,5k-3k rpm you switch gear (i hope i said it right, english is not my native language).
For diesel cars, it’s the same, you usually want to switch gear at 3k rpm, not more.
I am talking normal driving, not racing.
While it’s true that gasoline engines have a higher limit on the rpm (about 7-8k iirc) than diesel engines (5-6k rpm? haven’t driven a diesel car for some time) the normal usage doesn’t go often above 3k rpm.
How do you unlock gunpowder’s recipe? Is it in a book? My char has read plenty of 'em, and has 12 fabrication, 9 cooking, 8 survival, 4 markmanship. Still can’t produce. I can make black gunpowder, but I can’t use it to make ammo. I can make all sort of advanced drugs, meds, mutagens, but I am low on ammo. I’m playing an experimental released 2 days ago, ee5e06f. When I open my crafting menu I have everything I could need right by me, but ‘‘gunpowder’’ just doesn’t show up, just like my char didn’t know the recipe. Is it a bug or do I need a specific book I maybe have not found yet?
