Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Granted, one can also bump up the starting/max points like a good little cheater. o3o

I usually bump the maximum points up as high as it’ll go and either leave the starting points at 6, or bump it up to 12. Either way it allows loading up on negative traits.

Additionally, keep in mind several professions give you a decent amount of starting points, often more than their point cost would be worth.

I go with bumping up the max points. Moar negative traits, for most part.

True. Though 6 more starting points does expedite things without being too game-breaking. Also, grabbing forgetful is useful if you have skill rust off. =w=

I did increase starting points by 2. Way back then, I increased it to like 50 because I was super noob, and once I got a hang of all the commands and stuff I lowered it back… but I completely forgot what the default number was so I set it to 8 instead of 6, and then I kept it that way due to habit. Max points still has a high cap though, for them negative traits.

I stick with IntCap, but generally go with forgetful. For most part it’s not too bad. Even with slow reader, all I need is the skill books to increase the ones that need increasing.

Ah. For negative traits I usually go with…Addictive Personality, Forgetful, Heavy Sleeper, Lightweight, Poor Hearing, Trigger Happy, Truth Teller, Ugly, Weak Stomach, and Wool Allergy. That gives 15 more points to play with.

Favored positive traits are Disease Resistant, Night Vision, Optimist, Outdoorsman, Psychopath, and usually Self Defense Classes unless I decide not to be an unarmed character. So that’s either 7 or 10 points.

For me, negatives are usually forgetful, frail or flimsy, glass jaw, truth teller, trigger happy, lightweight, addictive personality, heavy sleeper, poor hearing, and slow healer and reader.

Positives are night vision, pretty (hooray vanity, I mean of course elves have to look good), gourmand, quick, robust genetics, psychopath, and of course cannibal.

Cannibal elf, of course. :V

Well, it’s not really cannibalism. Psycho elf and lowly humans are not in the same league.

Also, the portal cargo space, is there a downside to it?

You’re both delicious, so nyeh. owo

And aside from the complexities of crafting it…

oh great, this IS the newb questions thread

What exactly is a portal cargo space?

Its a blaze mod thing, I think it functions as a trunk with a lot of cargo capacity.

Someone mentioned peeking out of windows to check for zeds. This reminded me of something I didn’t discover for ages:

hit X and a direction to literally use a peek function. It will give you visibility as if from that adjacent tile, but you will not be occupying that tile while peeking so mobs don’t detect you.

hit C to close a window. Hit C again to close its’ curtains if it has them. Curtains had been a secret to me last year.

That’s what you get for being a peeping tom? o3o

Yeah, I have, sometimes, too, but the problem is that peeking takes a turn, and the turret can see you where you are standing, not where you are peeking from.

Question: is there any useful reason to go to a prison? I’ve looked a little, and it seems to be populated mostly by brutes (some of which are now hulks)…

Armory, primarily.

Also the NPC quest book visions of solitude.

I’ve just had a bout of recurring blindness and pain. I don’t have Blood Analysis yet, but Blood filter didn’t fix it. I have some anti-fungal stuff, but I left it pretty far away, so I ate my emergency royal jelly so fix it.

I have recently fought a bunch of fungaloids, but I have full survival gear, and I don’t have any of the usual fungus symptoms… ?

From the symptoms it sounds like you’ve contracted an intracranial visitor.

Try eating a course or two of antiparasitic drugs or bark tea.

Can confirm for second medical opinion: you got internal cooties. Take what Rivet said and call us in the morning.
