I totaly dig the super soldier ant idea.
Hmm. I got like, three? Fusion Blaster arm CBMs from one of those drug deals that ran into a Mi-Go things.
1.) Butchering Bio-Operators (Lab Barracks, Military Outposts)
2.) Military Bunkers, somewhat rarely
3.) Bottom of Bionics labs
4.) Rarely in Banks (and only Teleportation, Quantum tunnelling and Time Dilation IIRC)
5.) Rarely in random basements and sewers (both bionics and power armor drop there)
6.) Anthills have like 3 bionic types, but most of those will be fusion arms. Are they making a quad-fusion super-soldier ant?
7.) Also at military crash sites, especially when you hit the crashed military cbm transport jackpot.
8.) Butchering Zombie Scientists, Technicians and Shocker Brutes
Hmmhm. At least from Zoms other than Bio-Operators, I never got anything decent - most of the good stuff I’ve found was (obviously) in Labs and Bunkers, with the sole exception of the CBM-filled bank (what the hell am I supposed to do with four Probability Travel CBMs)
Spiral stones I think do nothing. Vortex stones are the ones that have an effect when activated.
Either way, recalling the source material of those stones, I tend to stay away from them 'cause it kinda freaks me out.
What is the source material for them? I get both The Thing and the Amigara Fault, but my Googlefu has failed me when it comes to the Spiral Stones. Given the Human Snails and all the clothes you find in those spiral formations I can guess it’s suitably macabre.

Uzumaki (Spiral), a hellaciously creepy manga.
Zombie technicians are still the best source of power bionics though. Also, you can sometimes find the civilian-grade CBMs in electronics stores.
Well that’s the creepiest thing I’ve seen all week… I’m also now going to burn the pile of spiral stones I’ve been keeping in the back of my mobile home and go find a missile silo to nuke the mine I got them from.
Yeah, but civilian/low grade Bionics aren’t all that hard to get once your Survivor is already more machine than human/looking like a Strogg. Getting the good stuff - military-grade, basically - is what I’m after.
Is there any way to spot crash sites other than stumbling upon them through pure dumb luck?

Don’t waste nukes for that! They are full of delicious plutonium! Disassemble them! Harvest the wonder and joy that is plutonium! Bring forth the light of the Atom, but not with a big boom!

I just stay the hell away from them.
But I need to destroy this kind of horror to prevent it from hurting anyone ever again. “There are underground Faults in the world. Faults you should remedy.” See, even my survivor agrees! I think two mininukes should do it, one directly above the entrance to the spiral cave and one on the mine entrance itself. Failing that I’ve got C4 up the wazoo.
Speaking of explosives, where’s the best place to get them - other than Military Bunkers (which are like giant candy shops anyways)
Also, as for CBMs, I am looking for the following:
1.) Fingerhack
2.) Fingerpick
3.) Nictating Membrane
Any idea where those drop?
I’ve had some luck with explosives at Military Outposts, other then that all the chemicals you find in Labs make it easy enough to cook up you own.
I got Fingerpick from a Lab Bionics Finale. It’s also the only one I’ve ever seen.
Yeah lab finale is the best chance for high tier rare cbms. Plus they are chock full of scientists and the occasional bio op for more cbms, and chemicals for explosives. Go lab diving!
Oh, and another note, Uzumaki is actually by the same author as Amigara. Both are good reads, and Amigara is short. Also, The Thing is pretty much the best damn movie.
Alas, I “only” seem to be able to get fantastically useful combat CBMs from Lab finales, not fantastically useful utility CBMs.
Also: Fuck Bird Eggs. I want to make some goddamn Bird mutagens but I cannot for the LIFE OF ME find any bird eggs.
For me, if the forest filled with underbrushes has bird eggs, then more often than not there will be more bird eggs in the surrounding area. If not, then I’m outta luck.
What does the Adrenaline Pump CBM actually do?
A temporary +5 Strength boost on activation that lasts like 15 turns. It also drops your Intelligence to single digit levels and makes your feel pretty bad after the adrenaline wears off. I think it also gives you a temporary speed boost. Good if your a weaker survivor who might need a strength boost in a pinch to move furniture or beat down a zombie.
Bird eggs can only be found certain seasons. I think spring/summer.
To partially answer my own question, with the thermal electric outfit on and a full set of winter survivor armor you are comfortable at -4 levels of cold lab.

Yeah, getting to the bottom of cold labs without getting to 25 speed from the cold and/or INSANE encumbrance is significantly difficult. Seriously, there should be no functioning zombies down there - any that were present should be frozen solid.
I got a mission from a random NPC at Lab Level -4 to go kill a Jabberwock.
a.) What are Jabberwocks
b.) Where can I find the bloody thing?
c.) Why the hell does a dude at Lab-4 tell me to go kill something in the forest?!
