Find the slime pit itself, as there likely might be one nearby. It’ll be covered in slime terrain that can hide more of them and is annoying to step in, but may or may not spawn more.
Just in case though, slime terrain is DELIGHTFULLY flammable. Once the surface has been nuke from orbit cleared of blobs, the entrance to the pit should be harmless.
The odd thing is, I don’t see any slime pits yet. I haven’t even extended my map beyond what I began with, since I’m stuck in the middle of a big city with a high spawn rate on, and the current map doesn’t show any pits.
If I do find one, I’m burning it to the ground.
Do amoebic molds generate slime? Found one nearby during the first few days, and it somehow followed me to base, and after that the blobs started to show up.
Blobs generate blobs sometimes. Big blobs generate blobs more often than that. Amoebic molds generate blobs A LOT.
While I understand the concept and enjoy it in most games, I removed the split ability from all three creatures in my game, as missing one anywhere near your base and then sleeping (especially if you don’t go that direction and sleep several times) is just stupid to try to clean up. I play this game to have fun, and dealing with that is NOT fun.
Though I must admit, having a high bionic energy and the Chain Lightning CBM when facing a giant group of blob can be very enjoyable… heh.
Well blobs should probably be restricted to the inner slime pits. They are not adapted to our world and need a host so why are they roaming the wilds in such great numbers? It should be corrected imo.
The green goo is the blob.
It will spawn when you throw a goo canister. Which contains the blob. its even made of blob globs… so by all logic that can not be something different.
edit:
Additionally all creature that get caught in a goo “trap” will turn into a blob… how ever that works.
I’ve gotten enough of the lab notes to see what’s going on, but the world seems to be a little inconsistent. Sure, there are a few people who are immune/resistant (such as yourself, obviously) and everyone else in the area succumbed to the blob “infection” (or whatever), but then, there shouldn’t be groups of corpses, especially not in hospitals and random druggies in the fields. (Some in the labs and random groups of soldiers and scientists is at least possible, based on the notes.) They should generally be zombies or still alive (unless you have a delayed start scenario - the implication in the “standard” scenario seems to be that it just started).
One NPC quest has them claim that anyone who dies gets back up after a while. It could be either reanimation of generated corpses and/or slain NPCs is simply not added in yet, or that it’s intentionally implying that some people are “immune” only in the sense that they don’t get back up when killed.
I’m definitely thinking zombifying is dependent on reanimating bodies, not spread through bites. It’s quite logical to believe that infections from zombie bites are the same perfectly mundane kind that other biting creatures can spread. Human mouths IRL are generally quite good at harboring nasty things, after all. Don’t make me find the story of the viking that died of infection after nicking himself due to carrying around someone’s severed head. o3o
You aren’t immune or resistant. You just haven’t died yet (well, and partially we haven’t added player/NPC corpses rezzing yet, that’s just an unimplemented bit). The blob doesn’t kill larger creatures while they are still alive, it just remains dormant until they die of any other cause and then takes over the corpse. The groups of corpses are the remains of those people who:
Died prior to the infection.
Were only drinking/cooking with bottled water; the blob infected everyone through the water supply, but bottled water was immune to that infection due to being packaged elsewhere/before the infection.
Were executed with enough prejudice to prevent rezzing.
Zombism doesn’t spread through bites, that’s just a normal old infection. It’s spread by drinking any water other than bottled or rain water.
