Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Is there a way to set the world to eternal winter? Of course I can make it last far longer than my character will live, but in case I don’t die in 3 days…

When generating a world, you can select what season to start in, and how long a season lasts.

You can t set season length to forever just like that though.

True, though the max should be more than long enough for all but the most absurdly competent survivors. I usually go with a season length of 30, and I ever get killed or get bored of the current game by days 20-25. ;A;

I played to year 2 with 91 day season. Humans… they are crazy.

According to the wiki, the hidden health stat is increased by taking vitamins and healthy food, so with regards to the latter, if the player had a metabolic interchange cbm, and using it at low bionic power to be constantly hungry, will health increase by a lot that way by eating lots of healthy stuff?

In theory it might, since the health stat normally levels out on its own over time, starving yourself would mean more food to influence the stat. It has a sort of layered mechanism to it though I think, same way thirst and hunger distinguish between the “food/water in stomach” layer and the layer beneath.

Though I would assume it goes both ways, to junk food would be even worse if you’re kept hungry.

Health is influenced by the act of eating food, not what you do with the nutrition later.
If you have vitamins, they’re much better than any food, though. Take one per 12 hours and you’ll be healthier than with a perfect diet but no vitamins.

yea starving yourself while eating only health food would probably be a good way to keep it up, but vitamins are prob easier, but I think that max heath has a hard cap to it in addition to the constant leveling out thing, so increasing metabolism so you can force feed yourself more healthy food might be a good way to jump start your health after doing something horribly unhealthy that you want to quick recover from (like binge druging to install CBMs or escape zooms) but the limiting factor might be how fast your stomach processes it not how fast you can eat it… just shots in the dark here though, Id love to see what the guys that have actually looked at the code say.

If you want to binge, take gourmand. Or just tank the vomiting (it only drains nutrition and water from the most recent meals) and force self to eat healthy. You don’t lose morale bonus or health bonus for vomiting.
Still, vitamins beat healthy food so much that:
junk food binge + a single vitamin > healthy binge

agreed there vitamins defiantly beat everything but sometimes luck just says no to giving you luxuries like that. When these things happen its nice to know what your best alternatives are, and in these (very specific circumstance cases) binge eating healthy could definitely be a viable alternative to vitamins if you have recently trashed your health and want to spike it quick before you get sick.

Health can’t be spiked, except with the leukocyte CBM.
It’s because there are two values: one is affected by food/vitamins, other only by the first one and the CBM. When you eat a lot of healthy food/vitamins, it spikes the first one, which slowly turns into the second one. It can easily take few weeks of game time before you seriously change the second one. And the second one is actually used in results, first one is only ever used to change the second one.

There needs to be a “do not let NPCs have flamethrowers” rule until they get enough AI not to be suicidal lunatics.

I wondered what that did.

What does the stem cell treatment (at the hospital) do? And the gama globulin shot?

The stem cell treatment heals broken limbs.

The gammaglobolinshot?? Modifys health… however in which way … I do not know but i would asume bypassing the first health value directly adding to actual health.

With the new skill system, is skill rust better? Did it receive a change?

I haven’t tried experimental yet, but I really do hope skill rust got changed/nerfed. It’s already a huge hassle to keep several skills above 7+ from degrading, and with skills taking even longer to level now I bet rust is going to be even more frustrating.

Yes, exactly. I’ve decided to turn it off, it is just that unrealistic and annoying, but then you find yourself with level 20melee, and also that is pretty annoying.

It does the same thing eating 4 vitamins in a row would, gives you 3 pain and spawns a syringe.
For a typical survivor, it means maxing out temporary health value (the one that doesn’t do anything by itself, but eventually boosts the more permanent one).
