There are the occasional carnivorous fish & snakes in the sewers (they respawn dynamically, too), and slogging through sewage is slow. Trouble with using the sewers is that you can’t open the hatches from underneath (or if you can, I’m not aware of how you’d accomplish it).
Vehicles certainly do consume fuel. Problem is that the pumps can run out. Currently the best way to refuel is to fill a container such as a jerrycan and use that to refuel the vehicle. (Refueling the vehicle directly, at least in the current version, is extremely likely to have the pump decide that it’s empty.)
Are there any zombies or monsters in the sewage systems? I hacked into a computer and now I have access to basically most of it and I’m considering using it to get around if I can.
Also do vehicles run out of gas?
I’ve met the occasional Science zombie in there, and sometimes sewer rats (well, it’s a sewer. Go figure.)
Actually that might have been a subway.
As for vehicles, yes they run out of gas. You can see how much gas they have left by examining them. There’s an E . . . F meter. If it’s a Red E, it’s almost out. if it’s a red F, it’s a full tank. Something like E . . \ F indicates it’s almost full.
And yeah, for all intents and purposes a cold face seems to be just the mouth, so I usually just grab a bandana as soon as I find one.
You mean manhole covers? I’m fairly sure they can be opened from underneath… I seem to remember doing it, which surprised me because I was struggling to move the cover from the top. I’d guess you need a crowbar and a certain amount of strength…?
As to gasoline - for a larger vehicle, remember you can add extra tanks and put jerries of gas in your trunk/box for emergency pipe bomb crafting. Gas is one of the easier resources to manage in my experience - it’s batteries that I’m most often hurting for.
Yeah, manhole covers can be pretty hard to open from above with 8 STR. I guess you could try and make up with that by raising your mechanics skill, but it still seems to need a bit more strength than average.
As for batteries, that’s simple.
If I can find any, that is. Cans of soda are a more common alternative, but even then I start to feel the pinch if I’m doing significant amounts of welding (my current character has cannibalized four cars to build his rig, and most parts needed repairs). It seems to me that hunting zeds for flashlight drops is roughly as good a source of batteries as crafting. Electronics stores and science labs are better, but limited.
Internal Furnace is lovely too. Welding with 2x4s, heh. Haven’t found a power source CBM on this character though.
In other news, is anyone experimenting with food poisoning and vomiting? I’m curious if it’s viable to use sewage as a sort of “poor man’s mutagen” with or without bionics like blood filter. Looking at the wiki, my impression is that all you get is about an hour of gimped stats and a tiny chance of losing torso HP. Unless that stacks, it seems pretty exploitable if you can retreat to a hidey hole with a jerry of sewage, a bottle of vitamins and some purifiers for a few hours.
What kinds of clothing can I make fit?
It needs to be a “sewable” clothing, I know but I can’t make my knit hat fitting for example.
Is it skill dependent or are only torso and legs fittable?

Ah, I see. Disassemble your flashlights once you’ve taken the batteries out and you have scrap metal to craft even more batteries with if you find some ammonia.
Seriously, I tend to end up with 30+ Flashlights in the average safehouse. I’ve just started disassembling them for parts. Even made some EMP Grenades, since I didn’t want to waste some.
As for fitted clothing: It’s not skill dependant, though at low skill levels it might take a while to actually fit it to your size or make it more sturdy. You’re just about spot on with the torso and legs thing though. Pretty much anything made of cloth or wool that goes in those slots can be fitted.
Under armour, soft/hard sleeves, gloves and hats seem to be the most major exceptions.
Then again even if those gloves and hats were fitted it wouldn’t make much difference-- head and hands encumberance is pretty much negligible.
Actually, you can fit gloves. The wiki say only cotton items can be fitted so that could explain the knitted hat too. (I always pick wool allergy, so I never tried on wool).
I usually have to fit glove lines. -2 Encumbrance help a lot with reloading, really good if you’re playing archery.
I just installed an Alloy Plating - Head CBM and can no longer wear any helmets I have. Is there a -1 encumbrance hat out there that will keep my head warm, or am I forever doomed to a freezing head? A reinforced cotton hat is the closest i have at 0 encumbrance, but I can’t wear it even though The implant only gives 2 encumbrance and I usually have 4 with a helmet and a hat on.
So not sure if i’m bugged or if the implant just straight up doesn’t allow you to wear any hats at all.
You can only put on headgear if your encumbrance is 0. So you can put on a hat and then a helmet over it (because the helmet was put at a time where you had 0 encumbrance). I think you’re screwed.
It takes lots of power to keep it going overnight. I remember reading that when the game decides if you’re going to wake up from the cold, it only checks the torso.
Another way to increase head warmth might be scarf, ski goggles, or gas mask. I’m not sure what will work best for you.
Ah, my apologies I forgot you could have fitted gloves. I’m generally always wearing glove liners (unfitted ones) and then either light or leather gloves over the top. A little bit more damage resistance is always nice.
Of course, my tailoring skill is always pretty high so I guess I may as well make some fitted glove liners for what, a few rags and some thread?
Also it’s a shame about the head encumberance as it is now. I can wear a knit hat and then a helmet, but not a balaclava and a helmet?
It’s a Goddamn Heresy.
As it is, I find it odd that installed Alloy skull plating doesn’t allow you to wear a hat or helmet over the top. They really should turn off encumberance for that.
I mean we have people IRL with metal plates in their head and they can still wear hats.
Unfortunately I don’t think a scarf will be enough to keep your head warm, just your mouth. Ski goggles might work though, iirc they have a high warmth value I think?
Yea it is strange you cant wear a helmet but i understand it for balance reasons, But still would like to see the ability to wear cloth head wear at least for warmth. Ill try the ski goggles thing since i have a pair lying around, I thought they just covered eyes though.
How do i launch a nuke? i hacked the console, the map appeared, but what key launches the nuke on the map screen? I pressed Enter and the map went away, back to console menu, yet idk if anything happened (i targeted an area very far away, so it’s not east to check it out).
