Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

… derp. Hadn’t thought of putting wood in a oven. Cabins have wood stoves for that but I hadn’t thought of ovens in town for making fires, good to know.

Ha, just be careful not to leave stuff in adjacent tiles.

Or you could try it out and see what happens for fun ;D.

Can I use pipe-bombs to destroy walls?
If no, what can I use to break into the police station’s security room.

I’m on the game over screen anyway to get my character back by deleting something in the safe file?

I tried the oven thing, and this farm is now burning to the ground… I advise against it.

I’ve created a FAQ page in the wiki.

I’ve added some questions and answers there, but it surely needs some expansion. Feel free to contribute to it (remember that you don’t even need to register in the wiki to participate).

I’ve also posted some loose guidelines in its talk page. The only reason for this is to remind all (included myself) what should be added there.

I’ll quote it below:

What should probably be here:
* Real questions that get asked a lot. A good place to start is the "Tips, Tricks and Newb Questions!" thread in the gameplay forums section, and that whole section, for the case.

* Questions that might not have been repeated a lot but you consider it's important to know (for whatever reason).

* Questions that aren't directly answered in any other page of the wiki.

What shouldn’t probably be here:

* Questions already answered in other pages of this wiki.

* Complete guides on general things, like "How to survive the first day?". For that I think it'd be better to direct readers to the "Guides" section instead. This is mainly to keep focus and brevity on the questions and answers.</blockquote>

If you want to give more in-depth answers, or deal with any subject more extensively, I think it’d be better to add that to the guides page instead (by editing it and adding your entry).

Hopefully, all this will help reduce the amount of same questions and answers being posted around here again and again, while offering a place where the information can be easily updated when a new release modifies some of the game mechanics and items mentioned.

Did they finally change that? Used to be that you could cook rotten meat back to edible.

So I did a little searching around the forum and consulted the wiki, but I wasn’t able to find how to go about adding doors and boards to vehicles, or even if it’s possible at all.

I recently came into possession of a flatbed truck and want to “seal” it off from the outside in an effort to make it into a camper. I know I can add armor plating, but I don’t think it affects the passability of a tile of the vehicle.

Anyone have any advice for me?

It can destroy walls, but I think the ensuing fire will destroy everything else.

Best to up your computer skill and attempt to hack it. Or get a jackhammer.

Nope. The game deletes you save file I think. Best to copy the save files manually and put them somewhere else.

Make sure to re-read this section. Check the parts with the OBSTACLE flag (like doors).

Hey newby here just wandering if clearing a town of zombies permanently stops them from spawning in that town thnx for any answer

For static spawn, once you kill all the zombies that spawned during world creation, you should have the town cleared.

For dynamic spawn this is also possible. There is a pool from which zombie spawns take oht from. Once the pool of acity is empty, zombies will no longer spawn.

ok thnx for the help

How can I tell if my clothing fits me or not?

Find NPC

“Does this wool sweater make my dick look big?”

It tells you so in the description.

look at the article of clothing (either in your inventory or on the ground with “V”) and in the encumbrance line it should say “fits” if it is fitted to you. Exact placement may be different (going from memory) but that is roughly where you see it.

Why “Trigger Happy” is working with nail gun, although it is told that it has no effect with handguns?

Probably to do with the fact it has a burst fire mode which hand guns usually don’t have.

Caconym is right. it applys to any gun with a burst setting. I can’t see why a nail gun has one but I use normal hammers if I make things…
