Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Eh, I just cheat myself a 20 in construction. I mean, it’s not that hard to put more boards on a boarded up window to make it stronger.[/quote]

I’d recommend book hunting, if none of the options at skill 1 are useful. (Construction tends to need a lot of lumber, though, so making more is almost always a good idea. Chopping trees and processing the proceeds might help.)

I like to run around with 0 enc and carry 2 survivor duffel bags with me for lots of volume storage and just put them both on after i killed mobs and then loot everything and walk back to my base/outpost.

after getting ANBC suit and construction to that level where you can dig downstairs you can get realy nice loot without activating elevator

Hey, quick question about folding frames. What can you add to them that will retain their foldability? I’ve tried various types of wheels, for example, and the moment the vehicle has enough wheels to actually work, it loses the option to fold up. Are my dreams of a folding motorbike for naught?

Every part you add has to have the FOLDABLE tag. This prevents all wheels other than caster and wheelchair wheels (as well as many, many, other vehicle parts. You could obviously mod in your own foldable parts if you wanted to, but for now the selection is rather limited.

AFAIK, folding vehicles is only minimally implemented. Only vehicles unfolded via items can be re-folded (Folding bicycle, etc).

Besides, the absolute minimum you need to build a vehicle is an extra-light frame or a wooden frame. Neither is foldable.

There are foldable light frames, I think. I swear it was an option to install them on a car, but I never messed with foldables.

Do minifridges in ice cream carts prevent food spoilage?

when they are on, they slow down food spoilage, they cannot prevent it though…

How do I turn it on? It’s got a storage battery and everything is in green condition. Just dump my shit in it?

You need to turn it on from the vehicle’s control panel.

Other than that, yeah.

They slow rotting down to 1/5th the speed regardless of outside temperature. If you’re in the middle of winter, or using an icelab (temperatures below freezing stop rot), you’re better off NOT using the minifridge. Do use it mid-summer as high temperature speeds up rotting instead.

Does reading the phone book reveal locations?

@Jaxlaxle: No. The phone book does not have a map in it. It is just a series of names and numbers.

I’d accept a Yellow Pages* map to pizza parlors, maybe other restaurants too. Those are pretty common around here. Tough part would be letting folks then head back to the mind-numbing white pages, which indeed are names and numbers.

*USian phone book section: paid commercial listings by subject, commonly includes color ads and a restaurant guide with vague map. Quite handy before internet searches, and can still be faster at times. (Doesn’t go down in bad weather, either.)

Major businesses, government buildings etc. For the morale bonus I was really shocked that this item did absolutely nothing and think it would balance to actually get some use out of it. I mean looking at pictures of strangers makes me happier in the hell on earth scenario I don’t see why going through addresses and phone numbers makes my character so upset.

I think the idea was “white pages are sheer mind-numbing boredom” but John Candlebury would know, xe wrote the thing.

Can someone explain how does nomex protect from fire?
Is it just because nomex items tend to have high environmental protection? Are nomex items protected from fire themselves? Do they protect items worn under them?

I’ve never seen it not work, but if you don’t have much energy it isn’t very impressive.
It drains all of your energy and gives you movement points based on the power spent, try using it around enemies and you can see the effect (Essentially you get to move several times before anything else can react).
It’s pretty useful for taking out turrets or escaping a horde, and with enough energy you’re basically The Flash.

Note that if you press the wait-one-turn key (5 or . or whatever you use), it will automatically reset your movement points, wasting the energy.

Ah. I didn’t realize that it actually was supposed to drain all of your energy; I thought there was a specific amount of power consumed.

I probably will see how far 180k bionic power gets me now, thanks.
