I realize most people here are talking about the experitmentals and etc, but for those of us that are still playing 0.A I have a stupid/puzzling question.
What do people usually wear that’s warm enough to survive a Lab-dive, tough enough for said Lab-dives; yet doesn’t encumber you to the moon and back even when you’re stripped down?
Long story short I’ve been forced to turn the surface level of a Lab into my base of operations, yet even just inside the front door at 25F I’m chilly; and since the first underground is -5F there’s no way in hell I’ll be able to survive without encumbering myself to the point of not being able to hit jackshit without stripping for every fight…
You really need to ditch the armor and be running all fur gear with a high powered rifle, you will need to be able to fight the robots at the end anyway and guns are better to use with high torso enc. Climate control CBM is also pretty much a must if they go more than a few floors deep. From there you need to go up and down mapping out your route, mark all up and down stairs on the map, etc. Frostbite is ok if you get out of the cold soonish, so you can make the bolt for the finale once you are down a bit. Pretty much nothing will stop you from getting frostbite on the deeper ones that go down to -100 C or worse, so you just want to get as deep as you can and move fast, no crafting or butchering corpses you dont have to, etc.
It also helps to go down in summer, outside temps do change the inside temps as well.
Generally though, ice labs are more of a challenge thing than an essential, the loot is all the same as a normal lab and there are generally plenty of them about if you have a car.
