Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Vehicles >>>>> Buildings unfortunately, constructions are currently nowhere near as moddable or have as many possible features.

I mean, to make a wall, I can use a frame, some armor plating, and some sheet metal to block movement and vision. It’s easier to repair and arguably more durable than a wooden wall. Moreover I can move that wall if I needed to.

My current setup is a 9-tile electric vehicle with a forge, welding rig, and 2 tesla tower turrets. I carry a tent in it for long stays; though the vehicle seat doubles as an inside bed. Whenever I decide to settle down, I make a wall using blade traps (forge/scavenge blades, and farm copbots for electric engines).

Occasionally I’ll set up a defense grid with an inside generator or external solar farm (zombies walk right over non-obstacle vehicles so there’s no risk of damage) and plant defense turrets on it, but the blade traps usually deal with the hordes well enough for my turrets to mop up what’s left.

Car houses are a bit too good and I just like build an actual house instead of a car shaped as one. Plus we can build stone walls which are amazing.

Keep in mind, they take DAYS to build, seriously we need to lower the time from an hour, to thirty minutes, Oh, and i’ll update tommorow, because i have dah schoolz

is possible to apply CBM to npc? i have enoutht weapons and cbm to create army of bionic soldiers

This house I made took me around a year and a half with 15 day season in 0.A:

The side room to the left is a small bedroom with some medications and outside there is a small open roof garage with a generator, a shooping cart and a small car.

To be honest year and a half isn’t alot for building such thing but it was rather boring to me but surely worthy of the time.

I have Log Walls and Sod & Log Roof because they don’t require nails which was a hard thing to get in such quantities, and I didn’t had the industry equipment yet.

Burn down a house you don’t care about to get more nails.

I burned down a small 4x4 gatehouse at the prison and i got like 100 nails from it, i’m tempted to burn the entire prison down but i need a hacksaw first to cut through the bars & explore inside before i do that.

And what tileset is that 12doze12?

You could always use the old fashioned method of ramming a car into it?

With this in mind, why can’t I wear fingerless gloves over my talons? :frowning:
I’m currently going to a LOT of effort to protect my hands in the winter. I’m hoping XL survivor gloves will do it, even if they are likely to take away my talon attack.
If that wasn’t bad enough, my bird-girl has turned lizard-queen on me and the

That is Retro Days I believe, it’s implemented in latest experimentals.

I have a question regarding traps/pits:

I understand one can use them to hunt animals? Will a shallow pit suffice to catch a small animal, and will a regular (deep) pit be able to catch bears and bigger stuff?
Does spiking the pit help a lot?

Also, I am confused, can the animals and zombies not see the pits? So they randomly wander in?
Will a zombie charge into a spiked trap when pursuing me?
Is there a way for monsters to escape their pits?

I think that’s all; thank you in advance for helping me.

Yes to zombie wandering into the pit if chasing you (they’re dumb)

No idea to others.

Throwing a whole heap of deep pits or other traps up around a base will kill random wandering animals, or it used to. Im not sure about shallow pits, if they do damage the they should still kill the odd small animal. Stuff will eventually crawl out of a deep pit/spiked pit, but it will take a few turns, you can easily kill piles of normal Zs by standing behind a wall of pits.

for me they die in normal pits before they get to my palisade

What is the use of a hand mirror? It isn’t used in any crafting recipe, can’t be activated, and isn’t used as a tool. Yet it can be crafted if you get the recipe. So what is its purpose? Flavor?

You use it to make a car mirror apparently.

Yeah I believe it gives you line of site in your blind spots if you’re driving a vehicle that has vision blocking tiles.

Guys, Im in a rock and a hard place.
Im going against a Military bunker and the turrents are shooting at me, the only thing keeping me alive is my Grenade Launcher and my APC (Gas tank replaced.)
Any tips? I have SWAT armor and Boots, but thats it. Oh and a m16.

My recommendation is to run away.

If you have an APC, why not just drive away?
Heal up, Fit your APC with a layer of strong plating in the front, and plow through the turrets.

Alternatively train throwing to ludicrously high levels and chuck stones at them from outside their range until they explode.
Throwing’s weird.
