So I found a M2010 esr and loaded it. It says that it has a range of 90 but my character can only see 60 tiles. Is this something that can fixed in the settings or with vision enhancing items/mutations, or is this a mechanical limitation?

Mechanical limitation. Could be extended, but the amount of overhead needed increases fairly rapidly.

Hello folks! Kinda new here, but I’ve been playing Cata for a few months now. I’ve got a grip on most of the mechanics of the game by now, though tips are most certainly welcome.
What I want to ask, is what place would you recommend for building a log cabin? I may have some experience with the game, but most of that was spent in towns, and now I want to try living independently of the cities, only going into them when I need something.

Id look for somewhere close, but no to close to a river and anthill or beehive for guaranteed food supply. If its ants, you want to be a few map tiles away from where they start spawing, so you dont wake up to 100s of the suckers. Close to a forest obviously, road access would be handy though, if only to get stuff in to convert to stationary power sources.

Lazy/smart way to do it would be to modify a shelter, the basement they have is damn handy, as is the computer for constant crafting/reading light.

I will most certainly not do it the lazy way… I just want to find a nice spot for the cabin right now; I want to build up my Construction and other skills with books first. Then acquire some hardware, camping gear for a place to sleep/rest while the cabin is under construction.

Edit: I keep following this river and the fucking swamps are everywhere! GAH!

Swamps aren’t so dangerous anymore. I haven’t seen water spawns in forever.

Smells like poo though.

Even if I am oozing slime from my tentacles and wearing the arses of dead bees on my head to protect me from marauding children, I have my pride.

Still gotta watch out for sinkholes in swamps too I believe.

Been all day out scouting for those books. Visited the labs (those are cold as shit!), the “inhospitable” hospital and a couple of other places. Dunno where i caught this, but now my character got dex debuffed all the time, and occasional stun with some pain. Haven’t seen any fungaloids. Rad level green. No flaming eye contact or the like. Didn’t eat any strange shit… Tried antiparasitics to no effect, same with purifier. Is it time to worry?

I don’t think so… as far as I know, they’re basically a moving, coherent collection of tiles.

Something like that happened to me as well… before switching to build 1778, my character got fucked over by permanent/not disappearing debuffs.
And I’ve been wondering why labs are so cold.

Yes, of course i did. Is it dangerous thing to do now? Even with survivor boots? Never heard of “tetanus” btw.

IRL tetanus is a fatal disease which causes muscular spasms and sometimes paralysis. However nowadays in the real world we have vaccines for it. Apparently you do not in cataclysmdda.
