I think you missed a “don’t” in your second sentence above
If you smash the back wall of the bunker you can then chuck explosives to remove the turrets without stepping into their LoS though.

And if you have smoke shells and a way launch them (or a smoke rocket) you can don a gas mask do the above and then launch.
When their view is blocked go in. Just don’t be around when the smoke settles.
Also, whats needed for noise canelation headgear? There was a brief mention a few pages back but not what skills you needed for it.
So, i accidentally blew up an Hazardous Waste Sarcophagus.
Where dafuq can i get that damn password (to unlock the elevator)? Still didn’t figure it out…
If you blow up a HWS, a military cargo truck might spawn there.
Trying to figure out a way to take these items off. I remember having my highlighter moved over to the worn tab a few times, but I do not remember how I did that.
I don’t know how to get it to go to the worn tab either…
You can just hit the ` key and drop an item. Repeat that a few times then pick up and “wear” whatever you want to keep on.
That’s the best solution I’ve found so far.
Anyway… I have a question regarding butchering. Is it really intentional that a katana is considered to be suitable for butchering, but a nodachi is not?
Kind of annoying. It’s not like you’re performing surgery…
It’s not a huge problem since I can carry a dive knife, but it’s a pain anyway.
Speaking of such things, is there actually any such thing as an item with a butchering quality of above one?

Acid rain destroys friendly turrets. Next time I’m going to build a roof tile over them and see if that helps.
You can push a crate around with Shift-G and pick up anything it goes over. This works nicely outside for clearing out the bones, furs, and corpses you don’t want but are reducing your housing value.
Not really newb questions but this is probably the right thread for it:
Long-time DDA player, just started playing again. Should I get the latest release or experimental, and why? I saw 0.9 was save-compatible with 0.8, is the 0.A release going to be compatible with experimental/new experimentals compatible with the old ones? That was the reason I took a break last time, I didn’t like putting a lot of effort to building a [mobile] base and then having a new update wipe my progress.
How do you guys deal with pack-rat tendencies? Mobile bases don’t work out for me that well a lot of the time because if I see something neat/potentially useful/that I don’t have, I absolutely must grab it and RVs generally don’t have enough room for all of the crafting junk I acquire over about two seasons; usually it’s scrap metal and aluminum cans or the like because of the “but I might need this!” thought.
I say get the experimental, it has a lot more stuff.
There is general save compatibility, but the more distance between the version you’re updating from and the version you’re updating to the more problems you’ll have. I’ve been updating my version nightly and the character I’ve been playing for the last couple of weeks has had few issues, possibly because I ‘catch up’ with each minor change.
Metal is ludicrously common, at least in the versions I’ve played. If you ever need a bunch just tear the nearest car apart until you have plenty (each Frame is 10 Lumps of steel, which breaks down into… a lot of scrap metal).
For other stuff… build a bigger vehicle? Each Cargo Space holds 1000 volume of loot and each trunk holds ~400. That’s potentially a lot of stuff if you have 10 or more spaces dedicated to loot, which isn’t actually that much when you’re doing a large build (or modifying something like an APC).
I have a fixed base that I regularly unload at though.
Experimental it is, then. I haven’t really done much with mobile bases besides a modified RV, I’ll have to actually build one from scratch/rebuild something then to get more space. Thanks for the quick answer.
The key factor for a large vehicle build/rebuild is that the first thing you install needs to be a battery and a vehicle welding rig. Then you can build the rest without burning a ludicrous amount of batteries.
It’s also extremely useful for-on-the-road repairs.
Also, you porobably already know this, but pressing “,” will allow you to modify your vehicle while you are standing on it.
Oh yes. I tend to shut myself in the back (zero visibility from outside) before doing major work, reduce interruptions.
Oh yes, I have a question.
Why am I seeing vehicle parts become damaged without anything hitting them?
EVEN ON MY STATIONARY, NON MOVABLE, IMMOBILE “floodlight rig”?! It’s a small vehicle that is mostly inside my shelter with a couple of solar panels outside the building.
It’s not taking damage on the section that’s outside. It took damage to the kitchen unit and chemistry lab INSIDE my shelter. And my floodlight basically vanished entirely. It wasn’t even left as grey wreckage.
When a part takes damage it eventually breaks off, leaving scrap on the ground below it.
as for why it’s taking damage… I have no idea, fire nearby?
Nope, no fire.
The only possible sources of damage would be being hit by enemies that came into my house, but I don’t recall any going remotely near that “vehicle”.
It may be that they didnot like something you where building over.
And remember, clear out EVERYTHING nearby when you are building outside. Building on bushes is !!FUN!!, and that makes you !!YOU!!.
Just found out that you can fill metal tanks with any liquid. A funnel, two jerrycans, a campfire and a pot will provide you with endless amounts of clear water!
PS: There is a “re-craft” button (’-’ by default)
For a less tedious way I recommend crafting a water purifier, and making it use a rechargable battery.
It will then purify entire jerrycans in one use and you can charge it for the next one. You’ll never lack for water.
