Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Just found out that if you have Internal Furnace you can guzzle gasoline. (10 bio-energy per volume point). Useful!

I have been playing version 0.9 for a couple of days.
Im considering migrating to the experimental build

  1. Is it possible?
  2. Would you recommend it?
  3. Will new cities generate according to the experimental rules or by 0.9?
    Thanks

If you just move your save folder into the new game directory, it’ll spawn fresh map areas using the experimental. Problem with that is, your 0.9-release world may have things in it that were tweaked for the experimental builds. A big one is for example: Dayquil & Nyquil were changed to be liquids in plastic bottles (in the older versions, they’re kind of weirdly set up to exist without a container). So, those items will magically become liquids without the container in your current “world” and you end up with a bunch of puddles of sniffle-sneezing-coughing-aching-so-you-can-rest-medicine everywhere.

I’d like to start a cooking fire indoors but I don’t want to choke to death from the smoke, how do I deal with that?

Build a stove or fireplace.

(We probably should diversify our “fire container” buildings at some point, right now those two and the brazier [which doesn’t trap smoke] are pretty much our only options).

So what gives the most storage space post vehicle-overhaul (excepting cargo haulers) ? Box? Trunk? Floor trunk?

Trunk.

Is there an experimental version for Mac that I can download?

Most likely…no. Unless your some kind of pro at porting to the mac.

Unless you are happy to run a windows/linux box on your mac

Yeah, if you want a mac experimental you are going to either need to set up boot camp or a linux OS on it, or you will need to compile your own working version to play.

My work computer is a windows and I have the stable tiles version installed. Ive noticed twice now two super odd things on the windows machine that ive never found on the mac. Today I came across a “Blank Body” or something like that. It was hanging out near a shimmering portal. Another time I found a rift in reality or something. Ive never seen these in the mac version. Are these specific to windows version or have I just not found them in the mac yet?

You’ve never found them before.

Awesome. I play the Mac version way way more than i do the windows and ive found these weird things twice already on the windows and never on the mac.

It is possible to clear towns in non-static spawn mode, isn’t it? With them spawning as a result of noise?

Yeah, though you’re gonna need quite a bit of crowd-handling & corpse-disposal, or be over a year of game time at it. Spawn pool for a Dynamic town is in the thousands, last I knew. Driving a loud vehicle in circles was the generally accepted method IIRC.

Im not sure about that, ive sort of done it a few times, you seem to be able to clear out areas of the town, the area around my base seems to get cleared after a few days of random shotgun blasts into the air and mass pit killing, further into town the zs still seem to be spawning like normal.

IT a particularly large town? It may be that its actually two small towns.
And whats your base?

Whereabouts should I search for a kinetic bullet puller? It’s the one tool I don’t have.
