Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

What were you wearing?

I’ve noticed that several clothing items in the latest versions say something like “This item sits close to your skin. It can be comfortable even when wet. This can feel good.”

Maybe your character is getting kinky thrills from wearing a wetsuit as underpants.

I believe they were nude.

perhaps running naked through the rain is just that… exciting?
its gotta be hard to get thrills like that while running from zombie hulks, necromancers, the like.

Yeah, if it’s warm out (65+F) and you’re naked or wearing Water-Friendly gear, you’re likely to get positive rather than negative morale from Wet. Think waterparks and such. (Fish/Slime type mutations tend to help with that too.)

Something odd just happened. Can anyone explain this? I left my RV parked to go and look in some buildings. It was, as far as I know, in perfect condition. I got back to it to find the kitchen and welding rig were destroyed.

WHY?

there’s an ancient conflict between kitchens and welding rigs. You mean you didn’t know? Think about it, in real life how many welding rigs do you see in close proximity to kitchens? And why is that? Gandalf can confirm this.

Ah, i get it, perhaps a dip in the pool during the summertime will be a better morale raiser than cocaine and whiskey. Good to know!

I just held a bionics party.

I had a bunch of difficult 'ware I wanted to install so I settled down with a book for a bit, then got the party started. A few puffs of cannabis, sample half the contents of a liquor shop, then run my Blood Filter and do it all again. By the time I finished I had a mood of +850, and I reckon I could have pushed it further.
Finished up with some Adderall and I performed the surgery with an effective intelligence of 25, up from 12. The installations went perfectly.

What where the percent chance before the party? 11%?

The most difficult modules were up around 25%, which was too high for my taste. The party brought them down to about 11%,

If I make an ‘inactive turret’ will I need to keep it fed with 9mm, or is that abstracted?

Deployed turrets require ammo (same as hostile turrets) last I knew. I understand there’s a Nifty solar-powered Laser Turret available, but that only fires during the day so YMMV.

So, what’s “tainted tornado” about? Does it mutate?

Um… never made it nor do you want to try it.

It’s essentially sewage, and IIRC you can mutate from eating it.

Total newbie here, I have a character on day 5 with some okay equipment and a small stockpile, but he is randomly unable to see books! He only uses mild drugs (caffeine, beer, aspirin, a little weed here and there) and has nothing listed in effects and is in generally good health. He has not recently encountered a spitter and has not been out in the acid rain since like day 2. He does have to wear glasses, but the glasses seem to be fine. He also has pretty low perception (8).

Anyone know what could be causing this?

If your inside and not near a clear visible source of light (like a window or open door) then that could be why. The other reason is that sometimes when it rains or drizzles it becomes too dark to read.

Glasses?

Are you wearing the right ones? For a character who is long sighted you need reading glasses or bifocals.

Reading problem: if your glasses are the problem it’ll tell you that “your eyes can’t focus”, etc. If light’s the problem, it’s too dark. Lightstrips, candles, parking by the window, and atomic nightlights are all good ways to light your reading.

Single-shot mutagen, first craftable (Cooking 5). I wouldn’t recommend it either but if you’ve got a morbid fear of mutagen addiction, its alcohol content takes precedence. Alcohol-based mutagen may be the way to go for some people, I guess.

/didn’t make it, not sure who did; git blame came up with someone cherrypicking it from some other PR

You can get addicted to mutagen? Oh crap.

Once the next mutagen expansion lands, yeah.
