Tips for dodging

I want to train dodge, and be a ranged character, I find my starting clothes get ripped very easily, and I get hit a lot. And everything you put on your torso is basically super restrictive. If you want to carry an ammo vest, or armour, or just two layers to keep warm, it take Dodge 2 and turns it to Dodge 0, and then you stop gaining XP it seems like. Any tips would be great, thanks.

Try getting weak enemies, like rats, constantly attacking you while naked. As in practicing before going after stronger opponents.

Works in most RPGs, like Morrowind.

Chest encumberance is easy to maintain, as anything like (heavy) armor or backpacks should be taken off before a fight with a low amount of zombies.

Otherwise it’s best to wear armor as most mundane zombies will have very low levels of damage, and kiting with a ranged weapon is surprisingly easy.

And gaining XP in the higher levels is rather difficult as you need to fight harder zombies to train. (I can’t be too confident on this answer, as it more speculative than the others.)

Pick something weak and let it beat you up while unencumbered, I do a lot of lab starts so broken cyborgs are my go to since they have pretty low dmg, are slow and don’t break down doors. Make sure you get your focus nice and high before you go and do it before you intend to sleep so you’ll heal the damage you do take back before morning.

Heh, I have sudden memories of Dwarf Fortress adventure mode. It’s kind of why I like this game, as it’s like DF adventure mode with AdventureFort.
