Steampunk Engine

Two years ago, I tried and failed to make a steam punk engine mod, as seen below:

Anyone want to pick this up and finish it? I never had any success with this idea.

Seems like an interesting idea, might poke around with it later and see if I can mainline it.

Any luck so far? Adding an extra fuel source might be impossible… So, what about adding a new crafting recipe to make fuel that’ll only be usable by that type of engine? Any wood item + water = fuel(?).

My guess is that the new fuel has to be defined as a fuel in a json file somewhere. Then maybe be used as an engine. If it is hardcoded then it is a no go.

Now that mugling’s engine changes are in the game, this could be done.

Sorta.
You can make an engine eat water from a tank, but I don’t think you can make an engine eat solids (say, charcoal or timber) from a storage. Water really shouldn’t be the ‘fuel’ for this type of engine, since it should just stay in the system constantly getting recycled while the combustible is the thing actually being consumed.

maybe if you made coal or charcoal a required part of the steam engine, and if you ran out of it, it would have to be mended using the mending system, and it would always break down first after a while for you to “refil” (by using the mending system, or mend button) to make it not faulty again.
