You do not need 30 str to melee a shogoth to death. Normal stats will suffice.
Trust me i went berserk on ones ass with a quarterstaff. It didn t survive. I used niten stile though.

I killed one with a katana. Didn’t take too long either, some 6-7 hits, iirc.

Using fists and martial arts only, I mean. Niten and ninjitsu with a good melee weapon for those two styles suffice with unboosted stats.
