How did you get introduced to cataclysm

Who or what led you to our dysfunctional mosh pit of a community? For me, it was one of the guys on the dayz mod forums talking about it a lot. Hell, I think it was GTAGUY.

Reading the DF forums, came across a topic about the original Cataclysm.

Tried it out, and started playing around on Whales’ forum maybe six months before he dropped the project, so I migrated here.

NaturesWitness found Cataclysm but we never got very far; after I got fed up with SCZ I asked him about that other zombie game, we hunted around a bit and by that time, DDA was a thing.

off topic, SCZ is pretty good.

A friend introduced me to their partner, we got talking about games, eventually ended up talking about roguelikes, and was pointed to CDDA. Spent a few hours reading wiki and forums, then decided it was too interesting not to try.

Aavak on Youtube, I have played DF before but left it a couple of years ago so I never heard of Cataclysm from there. Then I watched some videos on Robocraft on Aavaks channel and noticed that he plays both this and DF. Looked it up and now I play it lots.

After gaining a surge of interest in rls i went to Roguebasin (that was the name of the main roguelike wiki no?). It told me that i should probably try coffeebreak roguelikes to learn the basics. After a while i tackled harder rls, and with all the sudden zombie thing of that age I found myself looking for zombie roguelikes. I found cataclysm, but I just could not understand what the hell was happening when I saw the preview pic, as the GUI was insanely tiny, and the stats occupied more than half the window. So I bounced off without even playing and went to Rogue Survivor, which damn, I loved so much. I was a kid and it even scared me sometimes, like in the hospital. When I got bored of it I was a lot better at roguelikes and tackled Cataclysm. I thought DDA was only a really little mod until I saw the original game had no more development, and somehow I heard of DDA again. After playing it I was amazed with its new buildings and things, and everything began.

Joined the forums some time later, drawn in by Draw Your Cataclysms, where I’d make my first post.

All of it, worth it. I still can’t be amazed at thinking how much it evolved since I first saw it. Like, damn.

Edit: fixed misspellings. Phone sucks.

Dorf fort forums. Towards the end of the original cataclysm and the start of DDA.
Still only lurk there.

On the forums for a podcast I don’t listen to anymore, one of the forum users talked about Cataclysm. I loved the look of it so I played for a little while, then I decided to check out the community. I too was lured in to the Draw Your Cataclysm thread by Edmund’s hilarious art, so I started sharing my own goofy doodles eventually! There was a point where I sorta vanished but when I came back a lot of folks missed me, which still warms my heart. I may be quiet these days but I’ll be back to playing the game again soon.

Well, I was craving some sort of rogue like zombie survival game, so I asked my good buddy Google for some help. After some major sifting, I eventually came across CDDA. I thought it looked pretty dumb and not very in-depth at first, but eventually I grown to adore the game.

And so, that brings me here.

Basically was playing NetHack, got bored 'cause i couldn’t beat it, so i was searching roguebasin and clicking on random roguelikes when i clicked on Cataclysm DDA.
Looked interesting so i searched it on google and there was a forum, so i joined the forum and soon after I got the game.

Jefmajor’s first Cataclysm DDA let’s play.

This is all an Inception dream.

Poking around on roguebasin.

In a conversation about roguelikes, my friend got me to download the last stable branch and walked me through how to play. Fell in love with the game since.
