So haven’t done much with the tiles but I did end up adding a few more a while ago, so here’s the total lineup.
The top row is the evolution of getting the feel for body shape/silhouettes of zombies. Chances are I’ll stick with the 4th zombie as the generic zombie and use the burly looking fellows in red for tough and brutes.
Down below we’ve got some new additions. That being the Blob, Huge Boomer, Feral Runner no longer doing the Naruto run but looks more Scooby-Doo, the Crawling Zombie, and finally the Boomer which is looking a bit scrunched.
Below that we’ve got Zombie Dog and Z-9 as well as some snakes. The white figure below them is the player sprite, and some terrain/furniture practice. Far right is bed sprite.
These are done in 16x16, been thinking about expanding into 20x20 for just a tiny bit more room to make things look better. Like the boomer over on the right.
Much better, especially the eyes-to-face ratio. Keep at it. A good way to practice anatomy is to find other anatomical drawings and try to mimic them. Trace if you want to, it’s basically training wheels but can eventually get you to the point of practicing freehand once you develop the muscle memory.
i don’t know if i ever shared this before in this thread but here it is, recolored sketch of Lydia, Character that belongs to EpsilonShadow (link to the owner’s thread)
the art style feels like its lending as much if not more of her demeanor then her actual character. Such a plastic skinned life-sized murder barbie look, fits the character so well. making it seem like the character herself lives in the uncanny valley. Nice!
If you want to start as one you might want to turn the limits off at char gen.
Albino + fangs + long fingernails + insomniac + night vision + cannibal + psychopath + tough + quick + fleet footed + parkour expert + fey eyes + pretty(eventually gorgeous) + robust genetics + addictive personality(alcohol or something will simulate your blood addiction, bloody mary perhaps if the game has it).
And you’re going to want to go down the elf or trog mutation path while keeping all of this if you want to be stronger or smarter, or actually be harmed by the sun, etc. Sticking to being a nightcrawler is a bit of a slag in the beginning but you get used to it.
