Does direction of fire matter for accuracy?

Sorry for the kind of revival of the thread.

If the game calculates the dispersion in an arc, does it means the position of the target to you has a relevant outcome?, i know basically all aiming is in a straight line but is there a better change of hitting if aiming in an XY axis (meaning up/down left/right of the window screen) than on a diagonal?

No the direction doesn’t matter at all, just the distance.
Most things are handled on a grid, but accuracy calculations for ranged combat ignore that for precisely this reason.

It is worth noting that diagonal distances are further when circular distances are enabled. The exact details, however, I do not recall. 1.5 sounds right but I could be wrong.

square root of 2, so roughly 1.4
