Where can I get some steel bolts? Not the ones you craft, the ones you find. On a similar note, whatever happened to the trapped stashes placed randomly about? Those used to be huge boosts for my early-game characters, and I could use a crossbow trap or twelve right now.
I have no idea, they’ve been gone for ages, same as I’ve not seen Acid Rain in forever.
So. It’s Day 3 for my current character. The previous day was spent entirely reading books and sewing up clothes, reinforcing everything I wear. Full health, ready to go, and there’s a small settlement with a pharmacy just begging to be raided. I had some okay melee skills, a makeshift crowbar, and a leather vest. What could possibly go wrong?
One landmine, several assorted variety Z-dogs, five wolves, one crowbar-wielding aggro-happy NPC, one shocker, more spitters/shriekers/soldiers than I cared to count, tons of regular zombies, two infected wounds, and one angry/amorous moose (who tripped more landmines) later, I’ve got 1.5 bars of health left in my head, a locker full of pharmaceuticals and medications, and a complete and utter lack of comprehension as to how the hell I managed to make it back to my locker as anything other than a corpse.
I can’t decide if the moral of the story is “Anything that can go wrong, will” or “don’t expect light resistance at 3.0+ spawn rate”.
(Funnily enough, the reinforced armor worked wonders. Torso and Left Leg are at full health despite stepping on a land mine. Arms are a bit banged up and the right leg’s got a slight dent, but other than that… Guess I need to find a helmet to complete the ensemble.)
Day 10 for my character, and he has survived his first ever (and my first ever) encounter with a tank drone!
I saw him not 15 tiles away.
I turned off my torch
I slowly backed away.
I might burn the house down… not a guarantee to kill it (probably) , but would be a very visible warning that I am nearing the evil thing. But it is a pity… he is guarding a house basement, which usually contains some really fun toys.
Also cracked a safe, started drinking dandelion tea exclusively, reinforced ALL the clothing, got thrown around by a zombie brute, and found an RC car. Still too cold to start a small farm though.
Roleplaying myself … and yes, driving an RC car around a track around a rundown and partially destroyed grocery store is more important than finding wood, nails, and a wrench.

My character just punched a chicken walker to death. Yep.
Intersection in the middle of a small, 4-building village, zeds everywhere, a house right at the edge of the street. Got the tell-tale red dots, a zombie in front of me is suddenly hit with a grenade, I freak out and leap into the house’s backyard, crawled through a window. Punched down the handful of zeds inside, put some clothes on (started in the nearby forest as an unwilling experiment).
Pop a glance out the front window, chicken walker is still there, and probably furious that it lost sight of me. Immediately locks in again and tries to jump in the window. I land a lucky dragon strike first shot and stun it (thank ye gods I blew points on shaolin style), kick kick kick kick. BOOM.
Survive the explosion with 22 torso health and < 50 everything else. Hobble my tattered ass out of town.
Step immediately on a land mine. R.I.P. :I
Well. Addiction Prone is not just free points. My character guzzled a whole bottle of fruit wine, and wound up addicted. I’m now too depressed to finish off my mobile truck base to wait it out in, but I’ve got a bottle vodka that will hopefully get me through it.
THERE IS NO MARLOSS MAN REBORN.
THERE IS ONLY MYCUS MAN.
I AM THE MYCUS.
WE ARE THE MYCUS.
ALL WILL SERVE THE MYCUS.
So, some recent triffid-related shenanigans.
I’m driving along through a swamp, splattering swamp critters, and I start seeing triffids getting splattered too. Then I see a queen walk onto the roadway, so I swerve to avoid the trees. Then I see another one ahead, so stupidly I try to ram through. I end up getting almost all the way through before getting caught. I get out and kill the queen, before looking back at my car. The whole left side is in ruins and part even got knocked off. Luckily, my crafting stations are unharmed. I get out and fight wave upon wave of triffids and giant frogs, all while rain pours down and thunder booms.
After killing the majority of monsters, I get back into my car and try to get out of the tangle. Luckily, I can just accelerate out of there. I go forward a map tile, go down and kill the triffid heart, and come back to my car. I try to get it shipshape, which takes about a day. Finally, when the rain lets up, I can burn down the forests that queens have made across the road. That takes about a day too.
Right now I’m watching a queen being chased by fire moving along her own vegetation trail. She won’t be able to keep ahead of it for long. So very satisfying.
Started as a mechanic in a garage.
After grabbing a acetylene torch and all the tools necessary for vehicle maintenance right outside of the town I found a armored car AND a hummer.
Looks like the RNG wants me to live the life of a road warrior, always on the search for more gasoline and shotgun shells.
This is the thing that I ended up with. Still missing a fridge and a cooking station.
Sorry, I don’t know how the screenshot.
Spawned as a black belt, ran to the nearest town and kicked the shit out of all the zeds. Found a garage connected to a house broke in and
found a car with everything green, 80% fuel 80% battery

I thought I was wielding a baseball bat. Turns out it was a L39B-45.
I accidentally pistol-whipped the shit out of a Brute just now.

'BOUT TIME MAN
So recently i made a roller motorcycle called “The bolt” and decided to explore to the east of my house, went accidentally hit a car and all but one of my frames were destroyed, leaving piles of chunks of metal everywhere, so i salvage the car that i hit and drive off, a hundred ants in my wake.
A few minutes later i did the exact same thing, except i realized I didn’t have my rapier any more, so i repaired the car, again, drove it back to where i repaired it the last time, drove through a hoard of 100 ants, got near my rapier, stopped the car, jumped off of it while it was still slowing down, grabbed my rapier and slew all of the ants.
Woo! New record! Day 20 (30 day seasons), and I am doing fine, even though it is getting rather toasty.
I have found myself a happy new home that overlooks the waterfront, and all I need now is seeds for my farm (I have a couple spread throughout some safe-houses, and I haven’t fully raided a farm yet, so I think I have enough)
My plan for the next 10 days … explore the region outside the town. Specifically, I would like to find a swamp, and a nearby forest, for salt and wood respectively.
Then my plan for summer/autumn: Farm. And preserve ALL the food.
That would put me in a good position to explore during winter/early spring, gaining resources and cool loot things, without having to worry about food, and being armored up the wazoo!
I managed to beat a hulk to death with my bare fists, and nearly died, so I went to activate a few first aid kits.
I activated C4 instead. -_-
I just got a second fusion rifle, so of course I fit them onto the front of the Solar Roller VI.
Also, here are my weapons currently:
An extremely modded Glock 19, which is my main weapon. I only use it to shoot turrets before they shoot me.
A pistol crossbow and explosive bolts, which I also use to shoot robots with guns.
A flaregun that I shoot triffid queens and spider webs with.
And in my car:
An extremely modded Cx4 Storm which I no longer use after getting a fusion blaster arm. I used to use it to take down fungal spires and tank drones.
A M3 recoilless rifle with a bit of ammo which I have never found the occasion to use. I plan to use it against tank drones.
A mininuke launcher with one round. I plan to use it against tank drones.
An RM228 short shotgun with numerous types of ammo that I might replace my Glock with.
And finally, a shiny new V29 laser pistol which I plan to test on - you guessed it - tank drones. If the bullets do damage, it will replace both the Glock and the pistol crossbow.
I hate tank drones.
