Had my Bud Adrell dive out of the top floor of a church to stay with me she has no damage done to her but i did sit their for about 5 mins going “{what the fuck was that”
I’m Foodperson. I defeat zombs with good Kung Fu, assisted by my trusty sidekick with her wicked fire ax! I do use guns too, though, because Foodperson needs options when the chips are down (deep frying, with the fish. Get it? )
Foodperson had two firsts today. I fired off my very first .50 cal rounds today. What a rush!
In related news, I got my first ever jabberwock today. Four .50 cal rounds using an AI AS50 sniper rifle. I gotta admit I was a little thrown off when it charged me at the end. That’s why my third shot only grazed it.
Right now I’m suffering from a radiation of 1322 mSv and counting, which baffled me at first since there’s no place nearby that I ever crossed that should be giving me this much radiation.
Then I looked at my Atomic Headlamp and wouldn’t you know, its cracked, and scrolling down it tells me there’s an ominous glow to it now…
Guess I’ll die, survived a melee with a hulk only to die due to radiation of all things after I cracked my atomic headlamp on a brick wall.
My very first mutation happened when that happened. Took lots of Prussian blues and survived.
Default settings but with a 0.90 monster spawn rate, 0.90 monster evolution, 120% monster speed, and 130% monster resilience, and hordes ON of course.
Grant Garrison, the moody, hermitlike, thick-skinned military veteran is no more. After his interview for a job at the farm went awry, he fled to the other side of the forest and started the game at the evac shelter. He had taken the bus and didn’t know the area, so there wasn’t much he could do but walk. He found two mansions pretty close to each other with lots of good stuff, including two compound crossbows and simple metal bolts. Not so much in the way of tools though. He needed a welder. Town 1 had a tire shop and a working beetle. Town 2 had a mobile meth lab that was good to go except it needed new controls. He wiped out half that town with two mi-go guards. Wow, one of those things, even at : health, can take out 100 zombies easily. He hoped to fix it one day as it was a half-hour walk away from the mansions and it would be nice to camp in it for multiday campaigns. (yay autotravel). The third town had a garage.
This was about 3 weeks in. He parked his Beetle outside the city with his compound crossbow and a machete and makeshift sap for backup. Everything was going good until a barghest and boneplated horror spotted him. He stepped behind a bush, waiting until he was 100% sure to hit a critical on the barghest. Unfortunately, in a mere 10 ticks- one press of dot- the barghest traversed onto the bush and hit him, messing up his aim. He aimed as much as he dared and got off a useless 7-damage hit. 4-5 misses in a row with the machete later told him it’s time to flee. He was still in good shape at this point, but while he was in his Beetle, before he could start the engine, the boneplated dog slammed him into the passenger door, breaking his leg and hurting him all over. He tried to run out that side of the car, putting the back of the car between him and the boneplated dog, but it stayed firmly attached to his heels. As he stood by the trunk, he had time to grab something for one last salvo. Grenade or RM451 flamethrower?
The flamethrower because it’s more honorable. But he can’t aim it and the fire goes 16 tiles behind the dog. I think the better way to use those is to stand [max_range] tiles away from what you want to burn. So after another attempt or two with the flamethrower, the dog helps him gain some more proficiency in “Creatures of Flight” and he lied prone screaming until it put him out of his misery.
Decided to explore the unknown location during a portal storm.
Was near passing out at the time but decided to see what it was.
Still can’t decide if it was a good idea, I survived and walked out of the ‘Strange Place’ aka Tomorrow(?) with an unstable rift which has an option to activate it.
I may have gotten something better if I kept going, but I’m sure I would have passed out and been killed outright.
So this is a real quest? I never receive it, but I keep “completing” it by walking past it during normal weather.
I’ve made it to summer, being an albino in the sweltering heat sucks super hard, even if wandering around half naked with an umbrella in hand is a vibe. Im out of all the meat I got from the feral humans I hunted in Spring and coincidentally I’m underweight now.
On the plus side I built a well so I don’t have to hike to a the river or a swamp with a dozen bottles, two milk jugs, and a bucket any time I run out of water.
I also dragged an oven a half mile and managed to rig it up with a car battery and one of the solar panels so I can cook inside without using up charcoal from my smoker.
I’m upset because I made a bronze anvil not realizing it only had anvil quality 2 and it took a lot of effort to make the aluminum powder out of sand, broken scissors, and soda cans so now I have the world’s most expensive paperweight.
Oh and I also have the garden planted finally. I love the zoning options now. I remember doing this manually in the old days and there’s a true satisfaction in just setting up the zones and leaving to make tea while my guy tills an entire field.
Fucking Trapdoor spiders
I figured out the fun of a few wel placed radio bombs and a noise maker. Cleared about halve the town in one go.
Tried to do a Innawood Survival run with Magiclysm. But I found without civilization, advancing is a lot harder. Since you need books, scrolls etc that can only be found in specific buildings.
So maybe not the best combo unless there any other way to go about this.
Also, anyone got any interesting mod combos to suggest?

" I was in a stairwell to the roof the door was locked and the one i just came through had three of them on the other side i had nothing but a smart phone and a big book to my name. I knew that there were water tanks on the the roof and i might be able to scale down the roof tops to the ground and avoid fighting my way through the school so i bust that door down. First thing i saw was Maddy shuffling her way towards me i didn’t know her well but we were in the class together when this all started. She had gotten a text from her boyfriend sayin to come to the roof its an emergency and to bring as many people as she could. We lost the other three right in the hall and then she came up here before me sealing me in that tomb so i grabbed a plank and bludgeoned her to death. Taking time to evaluate my surroundings im in a fenced of section there’s only one other hungry beast on my roof i knew him… the perverted teacher always hanging around the girls track team he must have been the one who maddy was looking for… there’s countless others of those things falling off the other roof tops trying to get to my school after seeing me.
After catching my breath i climbed the fence and bludgeoned the other corpse. After words i checked the water heaters and stoped their flow so that it wouldn’t be stuck in the pipes. Unfortunately the power had already been out for too long and the tanks were frozen but i knew it was only a matter of time before i could drink from them so i smashed a few useless satellite dishes for some parts i wanted a sturdy chunk of metal to hamer a pipe into a makeshift crowbar. Once i stilled my nerves i headed down stairs i killed two more in the dark then draged the lockers to seal of the hallway and the other stairs. i knew they couldn’t do much to stop these… things but they would at least slow them down and give me a preemptive warning. Then i checked the first locked room. Inside i found our school janitor and the maintenance room. Luckily there was a fence to keep any nosy students from tampering with the furnace or water heaters inside. But after seeing the hammer hanging from … his… belt i couldn’t just leave… now armed with a hamer and the knowledge if i can find a fire source id have a safe place to stay warm… or as safe as you can be in a… fine ill say it… zombie infested school.
I systematically cleared my safe zone gathering what little candy and cookies i could from my… lesser fellow students. It wasn’t much but perhaps it could hold back the hunger for a few days… eventually i made it to the library finally something worth saving. I quickly brought as many books with any kind of helpful info back to my safe zone. there i spent nearly a week studying and training. I learned and to hand combat from a wrestling bood i made a cuddle and practiced fending off these monsters. and during the nights when i wasn’t tired enough to sleep through the groaning and screaming below i bandaged imaginary wounds. Finally i felt confident enough to try and clear the next floor… sure i was down to one pack of cookies and i missed my beloved carbonated drinks but that’s not the point. Unfortunately i want prepared enough i had succeeded in forcing my way through but my wounds were far worse then i anticipated luckily none of them were infected… i hate to admit that when i found the staf room i was so exited at the sight of the fridge that i didn’t notice that fat bastard of a gym teacher right behind the door… the fridge was barely stocked he must have choked on it when he realised there was no saving himself after being bitten. Anyways after that i returned to my home… i was starting to love it here all the books i could ever read, no rules, compleat freedom… well… almost freedom just a few more floors… i just… needed a few more… I decided to make myself some armour i came up with the idea to use the cotton from all of the teacher lounge sofas… seriously is this what our taxes went too… anyways back on topic i came up with a genius idea to break them down into fibers to make string to tie pieces of broken metal chunks together like a shirt… i see maybe the madness was already setting in… everyday i just ate and worked then pretended to bandage my wounds… didn’t want my only bandage to get dirty see… after a few days i had nearly enough strings maybe another days worth and and i would have been so much more prepared… but then it hit me… a rock… can you believe it? Dazed i turned around to find a beast… wait no it was a man… unkempt covered in blood with a deranged look… he was holding his head and shaking it like his vision was blurry… i did the only thing i could do… i fought back… it was different… id killed… i had killed… it wasn’t like the ones before this one was still breathing but i stoped it… i thought i would feel more but there was nothing besides anger… my food was running out and now i had to wait for my wounds to heal again. half a day passed and i was down to a few pixie sticks and a single cookie… i had to make a choice… first i bled him into a water tank then i butchered him. I ate till i was full. It was the first time i had been full in nearly two weeks…i couldn’t control myself i knew if i was to survive in this world i needed calories and my armour wasn’t done yet i still needed at least a helmet and i knew he wouldn’t stay fresh long… i knew it was dumb but i felt i had no choice. I drank from the heater… and i drank again… and again… then i slept. First i woke with a headache but i ignored it i worked harder than ever before on the threads for my helm… but it just seemed to get harder to work… eventually i settled for trying to read my medical books and practicing my bandaging waiting for my cold to pass… that was when i found it in the book… a parasite… in my brain… must be… i mean the symptoms matched… and id done the very same thing as those tribesmen who were infected in the book… i had only one hope to overcome this sickness. I grabbed my weapons and my armour. I grabbed my last cookie and stared down the stairwell… it was time to make my stand… thanks for listening to my tale mister zombie i know you didn’t have a choice i took out a fair bet of you zombies… but i guess this is my time… if only i had more time… you should stop trying to grab me… its just pushing the spear deeper… i know you want a bite before the others get here… if only i could move my legs… i wouldn’t have to wait for them too… here have some cookie i cant eat the rest… it hurts to much… ah… there’s my mother… guess she was looking for me too… well at least i know she will eat… good bye mister zombie…"

Me and two of my followers are discussing the size and position of our camp’s planned helipad. I’ve marked the outline with empty bullet casings, but Loris worries it’s too close to the surrounding trees and Teresa thinks it’s too small - I remind them that trees can be cut down, and that we only have a tiny 2-seater heli… The real problem is we have just 60 bags of concrete, when a pad this size would demand 350!
But then my engineer, Phillip, turned up and pointed out that concrete floors come with ceilings attached, and that this might interfere with the heli’s rotors, so in the end we had to get the helipad installed by the same company that provided my bogus pilot license (which for some reason was needed to enable take-off). I would have preferred to do the work “in house” - nothing beats the satisfaction felt after a few hard weeks of labour - but in this case we simply had no choice. Gotta say the result looks pretty schmick though!
Companion died. Took Methacola to cure the depression. Downed multiple depressants to avoid dying from a heart attack. Spasmed on the floor for a couple of days.
I have three character saves going right now. Here they are.
Harland Myrick
30-Something year old paranormal investigator / weed grower. He began by running around excitedly taking pictures of zombies. Lasted an entire day doing this, until they broke into his house the next morning. That’ll teach 'im. Now he lives on an alpaca-oats-and-corn farm situated at a dead-end road past two sewage treatment plants.
When he sits in his camp chair up on top of the silo, as he is wont to do sometimes, he can see many things. He’s got a freshwater spring not too far west, a short trek along the border of the woods. To the east, a research lab, several walls blown out and spilling zombies and manhacks into his direction. Ruh roh.
Most recently, he has just experienced his first portal storm. (It was also my first portal storm. Very fun!!) Dove inside the center of the anomalous location for just a second before running away back home, where he is presumably going to be staring at the ceiling for the rest of the night.
I wrote a diary entry about that. You may read it here.
The next time I play him, I’m gonna have him wrangle up those geese that’re splashing in some mud not too far away. They will gobble up GF bread crumbs and be his new best friends. Honk.
Malt Stupor
Blatant self-insert. Sometimes I just need to play as myself with a funny name. (As an aside, I find this is a very good way to come up with ideas for one’s IRL prepper setup.) He’s got my skills, my limitations.
But unlike my real life, he lives in an old brick warehouse by the sea. I’m enjoying wheelbarrowing things around and poking zombies with spears.
Matha Kauffman
When I become attached to a character I will sometimes need another new randomly generated badabing bang shwoop flop kachunk character, to to do dumb shit with and lure haplessly into their stupid death.
But of course now I am starting to become attached to Miss Kauffman, 57 y/o politician. She’s handling herself surprisingly well, and she’s got lesbian feelings for her fellow evacuee, April Kluggman, 25 y/o geochem graduate.
April’s got some sort of physical disability (frail + thin skin + 2 strength. ouch.) Matha took care of her wounds and did a terrible job. Earlier they had gone to a mansion within seeing distance of the shelter, got a bit fucked up.
But there she did find the corpse of another cabinet member, with whom she had a complicated but professional relationship. He was just sort of laying in the grass. Gripped in his stiff cold hands was a fully loaded combat shotgun. Yoink.
Now I am mostly using her to learn the ropes about how to manage a multi-NPC stationary camp. P fun!
For the past two weeks Bill Jeter, former baseball player, has been basing out of the local strip club, slowly clearing out the surrounding small town of Bellingham. Kitting it out with essential amenities, solar power, kitchenette, weight bench, the works.
Current Loadout
The mi-go tower, and consequently the mi-gos, haven’t been a huge issue. Raided the local apple orchards for the barrels to store diesel after clearing out two whole gas stations of fuel. Not really a whole lot of interest in this podunk town, a gun store and hunting supply shop are the most noteworthy. Bar, hotel, cratered electronics shop. The most exciting thing is definitely the strip club.
Now two weeks into the apocalypse Bill has managed to acquire an APC in good working condition, goodbye cube van. Only had to replace the controls and still deciding whether to patch the breach in the side behind the gunner seat or install another hatch as an extra escape route.
APC
The next step is to find more welding supplies to start converting the inside to some storage space, then fully repair the APC. And source some more diesel.
